Somnambulist Pass
Cartographer Solvai:
Somnambulist Pass is a remote route through the mountain ranges of eastern Eleston.
The pass was originally known as Lekosht (Goodnight) Pass, as the entrance when heading east was said to be exactly twelve hours ride from the easternmost settlement in Eleston.
Now the more dramatic moniker of Somnambulist (Sleepwalker) has been bestowed upon the trail by explorers and tale-spinners. There are claims that the pass and mountains move and shift, sometimes before the eyes of those traversing it. Some even say that those unworthy of the journey are led in circles until death by spirits which possess the stone. With many years gone since a map has been drafted of the pass, the true cause of any changes to the route are unknown.
A phenomenon more consistently described and more easily observable along the pass is the presence of the Glowfog aberration. Its density and brightness is unpredictable, sometimes gently floating like a natural fog, but other times moving and twisting like a massive serpent or creature. Safe to say it is best avoided, even attempting to write more about the fog makes one dizzy and nauseous.
On the eastern side of the pass there is little Elestonian civilisation save for a small tavern serving an especially captive market. From there it is around two days ride through the highlands down to Valaer's western border, where the wine begins and sanity seeps back into the soul.
