Personal history
Eleanor began life as the firstborn child in her parent's prosperous manor. Her father was well respected and the wealthiest man alive at the time, both sides of her family were well-connected, and life was mostly peaceful and comfortable. At one point in her childhood while her father was away on the king's business, her home was besieged by a neighboring family and she helped her mother defend until her father's forces could return to break the siege. Eleanor witnessed first hand the sacrifices of leadership as her mother gave her own rations of food to her children, resulting in the miscarriage of the last child she would conceive.
At a young age, her parents recognized her unusual perceptiveness (seeing people's auras gave her insights into their personalities that she didn't realize other people didn't have) and asked her if she would like to learn about alchemy. Learning new things was her very favorite thing, so she eagerly agreed. Apprenticed to a renowned alchemist, she first assisted his research into the effects of distillation as a form of purification and then worked with him to combat the Black Death, either to prevent or treat or cure. At this point, when they believed they were approaching a solution, the agents of the Wild Hunt appeared and took her into their possession.
She has been used in the intervening centuries by the forces of evil to scout out potential new recruits for their forces. This involves sifting through the worst of humanity at their lowest moments. In the modern era, her job mimics that of an office worker at Evil's regional headquarters in San Francisco. At the end of the day she goes "home" to the pocket dimension where she is stored. In this form of immortality, she requires neither food nor sleep, so she spends her pocket dimension time reading, journaling, and trying to figure a way out of her captivity.
