This can be through strict training of might, magic honed with years of practice, through shady deals, political turmoil, or daring assassinations.
The current year is 1 AP (after peace), where global cooperation against the forces of darkness pushed them back to the frozen south. There is a sense of hope amongst the great nations of the world, yet whenever there is peace, there is always someone, or something, looking to rise above.
