The Summer and Winter Courts

Purpose / Function

The Summer and Winter courts provide a common shelter and neutral zone for the shifting of the seasons. In the fall, Fae folk congregate at the Winter Court to shelter together from the winter hardships. In the spring, Fae folk return to their homes. The ruling Fae can be found within the Summer Court in the center of their territory to preside over issues needing their attention and in general administrate the fae lands.

Denizens

Primarily, the Courts are occupied by Fae folk of both the Selie and Unselie; Elves, Fayus, Goblins, Drow, and so on.

Alterations

The Summer court began as a common meeting ground for the individual leaders of various fae tribes; a simple clearing with a circle of tree stumps around a greater tree stump in which they parlayed and negotiated. Over time, a village grew around the clearing, which flourished into a city. The Summer Court itself, where governing takes place, is the center of the city, crafted by trees woven tightly together as they grew with an open ceiling to the sky above.   The Winter court began as a dwarven ruin where fae sheltered from the The Ten Year Storm with their Dire Deer. As word spread, more and more fae began to congregate there in the winter, practically ordered by the leaders of tribes to protect themselves from the winters. Food was sent to store in the underground chambers. Eventually, a tower was constructed upon it to house the heads of each Fae tribe and conduct governance within. A village grew up around it.

Architecture

Majority of both courts are built with Fae architecture, flowing structures of wood and/or stone that flow with the natural state of the land and vegetation. The storage chambers under the tower are of ancient dwarven design; blocky and geometric.
