Kindle Spirits and Alcohol
Second to the wine brewed by the dwarves, Kindling alcohol is among the most coveted and high proof alcohol on Batolund. By necessity, the region of Talynia produces and consumes high quantities of alcohol. The amount of exports is relatively low, due to the Kindling's own need for their alcoholic creations, but it is more than expensive enough to make up for the lack of quantity. The Kindlings of Talynia rely heavily on the exports of this alcohol to support their region and economy. Fortunately, there is no lack of clients willing to pay the price.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Kindle alcohol is primarily brewed with various grains, such as hops, barley, corn, and wheat. Fruit imported is also used to ferment juices into wines but tends to be added to the grain based alcohols to enhance the flavor instead. As such, the color and flavor of the alcohol varies from brew to brew, year to year.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Kindle alcohol contains varying levels of intoxicating properties, ranging on average between 25 and 50% alcohol.
Life & Expiration
Like most alcohols, the longer it sits sealed, the more fermented and alocholic it gets. Beers begin to taste bad if left fermenting too long, and wine will sour into vinegar.
History & Usage
History
The usage of these alcohols has primarily been a water replacement in the Kindling people. Excessive water consumption acts as a poison for Kindlings, and thus is avoided. Alcohol has little to no visible effect on the people, giving them little to no other reason to drink alcohol, unlike other races. Thus, the early Kindlings had room to experiment with their techniques and develop better flavors.
Families eventually began selling their lower alcoholic concoctions to travelers for money and used the funds to import exotic fruits from Aravaria and other neighboring countries. Export of the alcohols abruptly stopped near the end of the Demon War due to the region's capture. The Demon King forced their product to be used for supplying his armies, severely dwindling the alcohol reserves of the Kindlings. Many families died out, taking their recipe's with them. Production resumed shortly after the end of the war with heavy support from the neighboring country of Gyrmania, though the loss and hardship forced Talynia to become a part of the nation to survive.
