Ifrit's Cauldron (Eef-Reet's Cauldron)

"That mountain, standing out head and shoulders above the rest, is the tallest in the world, hiding a secret burning within. When Pela is angered, the mountain explodes, and the whole world will suffer."

Geography

Located on the continent of Velka, this massive volcano is the tallest mountain in the central chain. The summit of this volcano rises 22,234 feet above sea level. The volcano slopes upward at gentle angle for the first 4,000 feet. Climbing the volcano from this point requires mountain climbing gear and protections from the thinned air, ash, and searing air vented by the volcano's fumaroles. The mountain chain surrounding the volcano serve as a barrier from the lava flows when it erupts, directing the flow toward the ocean and away from settlements, referred to as "Atlor's Cage" by the dwarves.

Ecosystem

Ifrit's Cauldron provides home to many species of fire aspected creatures. The flora and fauna at the base of the volcano thrive on the rich soil. Further up, where the air starts to thin, the more elemental based creatures and plants thrive living near the vents and fumaroles. Where the air thins out most is uninhabited. Magmus thrive within the heart of the volcano, utilizing the magma and stone inside to nourish themselves.

Ecosystem Cycles

Ifrit's Cauldron does not experience winter given it's location. Snow can occasionally frost the side of the mountain due to it's height, thicker in the summer when it is hottest.

Localized Phenomena

Occasionally, the area is racked by small earthquakes and rumblings as the magma and earth below shifts. Rarely, the quakes generate a billowing black smoke from the volcano's vent or cause a minor eruption. In extremely rare cases, the quakes are strong enough to cause a full blown eruption.

History

Ifrit's Cauldron grew as a direct result of the breaking of the super continent. Ifira used the volcano as a breeding ground and bed for the experiments to create bodies that could hold single aspect elemental spirits. When Atlor's Judgement fell upon the dragons, her experiments came to an end and the Magmus sealed in the valley by the dwarves raising Atlor's Cage. The Cage prevented exploration past the inital mountains, leaving the environment to grow and evolve around the volcano. Thousands of years later, Kindle emerged from the volcano and went out into the world.
