Aldric Steelheart (Auld-Rick)

King Aldric Rashiv Steelheart

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Aldric was the only child of King Eric and Queen Amelia Steelheart. He spent his early life learning the ins and outs of the political sphere, philosophy, economics, and so on. He focused on being a peaceful leader, resolving conflict through diplomacy and raising up his people and his allies. He married his first wife, Beatrix Tanner, shortly after taking the throne at nineteen. Through Beatrix, he had two sons, Varid and Evrik. He remarried six years after Beatrix died in childbirth with Evrik to Amella Ranas once she came forward with the claim as having birthed his child, Hadrick. He accepted the child even before paternity was proven through divine testing.   Aldric treated his three sons equally, teaching them the best he could and loving them despite flaws, shortcomings, and accusations. He encouraged their interests, mourned the death of two sons, and placed the third on the throne before illness took him at the age of 47.   His policies focused on the well being of the people. Extra funds were allocated to feed the poor and negate droughts during his reign. He focused on rehabilitation of criminals rather than punishment. While he was against violence, he recognized the need for their military to defend them should diplomacy ever fail. He was much beloved by his people and despised by nobles for the heavy taxation.

Education

As prince, Aldric was afforded the best education available.

Employment

Aldric spent his life as a diplomat and politician, fighting for the peace and prosperity of his people.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Aldric averted several wars and established many alliances.

Failures & Embarrassments

Aldric took any battles and wars that Agaland became involved in as a failure on his part.

Morality & Philosophy

Aldric firmly believed in ruling through understanding and kindness. He developed and taught the philosophy that a kingdom is nothing without it's people. Nobles were important to run the government, but the people who made up the majority were just as important, for without it's people a kingdom could not exist. Thus, it was the duty of leaders to protect and care for the foundation of their kingdom.
