These can be taken in through an orifice, breathed in, or absorbed through the skin.

Causes

Addiction comes from taking a substance into the body and the body forming a dependency on that substance.

Symptoms

Seeking behaviours, emotional instability, withdrawls, body tremors, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heart palpatations, severe depression as the weight of reality slowly crushes the soul, feeling physically weaker than when the substance is in the system, etc. Symptoms vary depending on the compound.

Treatment

Some addictions can be treated with separation from the substance and monitoring (most chemical addictions)
Some addictions must be closely monitored and treated with antigens to that substance (Poisonous chemicals)
Rarely, addictions must be cured through magical rituals. (Vampire Blood)

Prognosis

Providing that the addiction is successfully treated, the prognosis is good. While the damage done by the addiction to the body may not be reversible, it is most often survivable. Watch out for relapses!
