Eisothh

Basic Information

Anatomy

The giant bird like species of the Eisothh are a four limbed animal. The stern most limbs are the legs, which perch on high cliffs as well as serve as arms to collect prey. Their front most limbs are almost like bat wings. The large birds typically use their wings to glide, as they typically reside on the higher cliffs of the Green Isle on The Continent of Nereshi. Due to their high altitude, the large beasts of burden have extremely large lungs, which are often eaten as a delicacy during certain festivals. They have a large horn on the top of their head which

Genetics and Reproduction

The species reproduces once every bi year giving birth to a multitude of eggs. The mother Eisothh is pregnant for around 7 months before giving birth to the eggs and leaving them to the cliffs. The Eisothh babies navigate their weay home to the Green Isle naturally, with the reasoning behind this being little understood.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The diet of the Eisothh is mainly vegetal, as their high altitude allows for more flora choices than fauna. They require much less water than the average avian being. They typically reside on the Green Isle but migrate every summer to the main island of Nereshi.

Biological Cycle

During the great migration of the Eisothh, the flock uses the dense summer air to find their way to the main island of Nereshi where they settle within the Ouss Range. The steep cliffs of the range hold a multitude of preexisting caves and burrows which serve as a mating grounds and thus the birthplace of the next generation of Eisothh.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Eisothh are naturally nocturnal creates, thus they rely on sonar to perceive their surroundings. Although they do not rely on sight, their hearing is also quite good. The Eisothh rely on a combination of sonar and hearing to navigate their surroundings, particularly during their migration months.
Conservation Status
The Eisothh are the apex predators of the skies. While they are not carnivores, or even omnivores, their relative size and capability have made them a top contender in the Nereshian ecosystem. Because they are on the verge of being considered overpopulated, they have been made into a working species by the ruling ethnicity, the Ssine. The Ssine have used them to transport goods and people over long distances for generations, with the taming of the Eisothh being a rite of passage for the herd tamers of the northern Ouss Range.
