The City of Greyfell
The City of Stone
"The Great Human City. Established in the first age by King Grehgor Greyfell, as the seat of his power after defeating the monstrous armies of the Evil Lich Sqeg'zaac. The city remains one of the most powerful kingdoms on the continent, largely considered the focal point of Human civilization."
Demographics
The city is predominantly Human, with Half-orcs and Halflings making up less than half of the populace. There are people of other races that can be found but they are far and few between. It is dangerous for them to live amongst the Non-Magic Alliance.
Government
Greyfell is truthfully a dictatorship run by the Queen. Taxation is heavy in exchange for the "privilege" to live on "Fell Soil". This includes protection from the Fellish Army.
Defences
The Walls of Greyfell are renowned for their craftsmanship and sheer megalithic size. The city is notoriously difficult to get into. The Great Gate is the only entrance, which is a barbican; a two stage gate system with "jar walls", which prevents outsiders from getting in without proper clearance. The main gate opens while the second remains closed, allowing outsiders to gather into the "Kill Zone", after which the main gate closes. Once inside, there is no way to leave (alive) without receiving clearance. This rectangular space with high, flat walls is fitted with several arrow slits and places where rocks and other unpleasant things can be dropped. All entries must have proper clearance to enter without the confiscation of any arms, and a fine of 200 gold pieces and possible incarceration/execution.
Industry & Trade
The city has a flourishing mining business. The nearby mountains provide many valuable metals, gemstones, and the famous Greystone from which the city was constructed.
Guilds and Factions
The Company: This mysterious organization operates within Greyfell and possibly other cities as well. Their motives and goals are unknown, however, they do seem to be working for the Queen for the time being. The Company has Agents which come in all forms, and live amongst the people of Greyfell, doing the biding of their employer.
