Mother Abigail Finch

Mother Abigail Finch was responsible for the rise of the Sobrinity movement. A young priestess in service to the Temple of Acadia, the primary church of the goddess of fertility, she believed that the advancement of technology in the world would lead to a detachment of mortals and their gods. While the existence of divine avatars could not be disputed, Abigail believed that the mix of magic and technology would lead mortals down a path that would ultimately arrive at the false belief that they could be their own gods, and turn against the divine in a violent, and ignorant manner.
To avoid this, Abigail decided to embark on a pilgrimage. She would spend the next thirty years of her life moving from city to city, speaking out against the rise of magical technology that seemed to be engulfing the world. She would gather followers who believed her message, and lead them out into the wilderness to settle villages. Over her time of preaching, she managed to gather nearly fifty thousand people who followed her preaching and set out into build their own villages, free of the influence of magic and high technology. She would later settle among a small village known as Owensburg, living out the last bit of her life, dying at the age of 84.
Nearly one hundred years after her death, those who claim to be participants of Sobrinity have successfully lobbied with major political powers to allow themselves to be free of the influence of high technology. Leaders of neighboring nations have agreed that airships, and trains will not fly or travel near their settlements, trade caravans will stick to wooden carriages and horse, and any military presence will be regulated to the use of bladed weapons, and bow or crossbow only. The followers of Sobrinity have since been recognized as a protected people.
