Moon Nexus

Once a major religious site to the Moon Elves, the once grand crystal arches, spires, and buildings that surrounded a perfectly circular lake have fallen into disrepair and are slowly being swallowed up by nature. The reason the site has been abandoned is because it lies in the Blessed Kingdom of Light. While once magical and non-magical creatures existed all across Elarus and lived together in harmony an unknown event that has been lost to history... or perhaps covered up... drove the two races into separate kingdoms. The Moon Nexus fell into the lands claimed by the humans and thus the elves lost access to it and it became abandoned.

Purpose / Function

A holy site to the Moon Elves. If the solstice was a full moon, the light of the moon would perfectly fill the lake and was said to grant immense blessing to any who basked in the lake and its light.

History

The building of the Nexus has been long forgotten, but the damage done to the buildings was primarily carried out by humans and the church when Elarus was split in two. Because the location represented magic, it is believed that the ancient church tore down a good number of the buildings. However, some of it is still left standing, despite nature slowly swallowing the ruins up. Perhaps the slow rate of natures reclamation of the ruins has to do with the magic that runs deep in the location.

Tourism

Very few people venture to see the Moon Nexus now. While not outright forbidden by the church, the worship of the moon is no longer permitted so the place doesn't hold the same interest among humans that it did for the elves. In addition, those who visit will claim to feel a mystic energy filling the place and as a result the church frowns on anyone speaking of it.
