Umbra

Umbra is a female Lykaian and carl to the Dark Princess of Casila, Maximiliana.
Umbra is a quiet, reserved creature who speaks freely only to Maxi - the two of them are incredibly close, and Umbra is a bit clingy.
Although she is a werewolf, Umbra has long since mastered her "wild" self and is thus unaffected by moon phases; instead, whenever her queen is endangered or she is otherwise grossly emotionally strained, Umbra becomes Wild Umbra.

Appearance

Form

Umbra is a female Lykaian at about 4'11" (~150cm).
Umbra is petite and unremarkable, with her most striking feature being her long black hair with fiery red tips, worn over one eye. She speaks softly, often in a mumble, and usually doesn't make eye contact. Her coat is mid-grey with sand highlighting about her belly. As a Dark Child, Umbra's limbs bear darkened "gloves and socks".

Clothing

As Maximiliana's personal attendant, Umbra is essentially her head maid and dresses the part. Her maid ensemble, complete with headdress, is uncharacteristically head-turning; she only wears it because Maxi tells her she looks cute.
Umbra has adjusted the outfit so that, should she turn Wild while wearing it and destroy the outer dress, there is a stretchier inner layer that continues to cover her modesty during her transformation and once she has reverted... assuming that Wild Umbra doesn't find it uncomfortable and rip it off. This second layer more closely resembles a swimsuit in a boring green-brown color.

Wild Umbra

Umbra's werewolf form is a good few inches taller than her normal self, with longer limbs and a more untamed movement and behavior, but recognizable as her in the face. Her lankiness is spooky and hides the dangerous might of her savage claws.

Persona

Umbra

Umbra is quiet and serene, and comes across as cold or unimpressed, carefully hiding her emotions behind a deadpan stare and a pout. Despite her lack of enthusiasm, she is very grateful to the Dark Children for keeping her, usually makes herself of service to friends and guests, and is flawlessly devoted to Maxi's happiness and safety.
While she usually mumbles and rarely speaks up, what speech Umbra does volunteer is often sassy and a little bit cynical. In contrast, when speaking of herself she is very modest, often puts herself down, and changes the subject whenever she can.
Umbra secretly and constantly fears the risk of her Wild form hurting someone she cares about, especially Maxi. She sees herself as dangerous and monstrous, and is keenly aware when company is uncomfortable or distrustful of her, most notably Arietta.

Wild Umbra

While Wild Umbra's mind simplifies and her violence multiplies dramatically, she is still intelligent and retains the same loyalties of her more civilized self; under most circumstances she is no threat to Maxi, to friends, or to anyone she does not perceive as a threat to Maxi. However, as she makes decisions and takes action very quickly, misunderstandings around Wild Umbra tend to be dangerous to one's health.
It is possible, if Umbra is overcome with rage towards a specific person, for her to become Wild Umbra and attack them. This is the only reason that Maxi isn't wholly comfortable with Wild Umbra; while Maxi herself is always completely safe, that isn't true of anyone else Maxi might care about who might provoke Umbra, such as Arietta.
Wild Umbra can recognize known individuals by many subtleties, including their scents or lack thereof. It's extremely difficult to fool Wild Umbra into attacking the wrong person. Over time, she has learned to recognize scents as normal Umbra too.
