GHG Session 44: A Fallen Raven

General Summary

Month 1, Week 1, Year 919
Theo Vechian's body lay defeated and disintegrating into ash, but the fight raged on for the Fortunate Five. A handful of well-dressed minions continued to harrass the party, and Theo's simulacrum tried to escape from the battle to sow chaos elsewhere. Xa'kara and Reetma pushed back the last few minions with assistance from the burly woman from Sanjuro City, who turned out to be a wereboar in disguise and even helped defeat Zan'kiri's rogue zombies. Loopmottin proved quite capable in a fight as well, delivering a devastating barrage of Magic Missiles at Theo's simulacrum that burst it like a water balloon. All the monsters were eventually defeated, but not before one managed to get its fangs into Ysmyrelda's neck and sap the half-elf of all their remaining life force. Ys fell to the ground, dead.   (Sometime amid the chaos of the fight, the warlock assisting Theo managed to disappear into the night and escape the fight)   Windred quickly jumped into action, a handful of diamonds burning with arcane and reviving the fallen ally. Ys was dead for less than six seconds, but that proved to be enough time to have a memorable encounter with the Ageless One in the afterlife. As Ys would tearfully recount later, Ekal's supreme deity asked nothing from her other than for her to live a meaningful life, a vague promise that left Ys frightened of dying again and the dangers she'd face in the future. Xa'kara offered some spiritual guidance to try and soothe Ys' troubled soul, and Loopmottin revealed her level of affection for Ys by refusing to accept her non-customer's death as a 'real death'. Bubbles sat frozen in place for hours after Ys' death and revival, reminded once more of life's fragility and setting out to find a way to honor their allies in death. And of course, Zan'kiri offered his own alternatives to death...   Month 1, Week 2, Year 919
It took nearly half a week for the party to return back to Sanjuro City, Loopmottin being only able to teleport once per day and ensuring that the rescued prisoners from Ownka's camp were brought back to town first (Xa'kara burly wereboar refused to go, choosing instead to stay in the Koulan Forests to hunt down the kaiju boar). Kyoko called the group via Twilight Ring on Monday to check on the FF's condition, warning them that a nasty rumor had started circulating around Sanjuro City that the party was nothing but a band of oni in disguise. Perhaps Loopmottin's teleportation services did little to quell these rumors, placing the FF in the middle of a busy shopping street with a flash of arcane energy.   Arriving on a Tuesday, the party decided to wait a day before meeting in-person with Headmistress Kyoko to discuss future jobs; there'd be a lot to discuss, especially in regards to Teherse'singh's addition to the group. In the meantime Ys and Zan'kiri visited the Despero consulate to collect the bounty on Theo Vechian, a satisfying 1,500 platinum pieces presented in a velvet-lined oaken box. Windred visited a bookstore near Chusei University asking for books written in Common, finding nothing but a smutty Rakkan novel called Lady Rel-Thani's Lover. Ys also visited the bookstore to obtain a couple scrolls of 'Sending', reaching out to someone she hadn't heard from in almost 70 years: Jupiter Talzerine.
