EooD Session 31: Breadstick Gang Assemble

General Summary

Month 1, Week 3, Year 901
Day 8 in the Underdark
Reinvigorated after a comfortable rest at Castle Hainaut, the party set about preparing for the next leg of their mission. House Baudissin must be removed from power to prevent all-out war with Rakka, and that would be accomplished by turning the other houses against the Baudissins and strengthening House Hainaut's influence in the region.      To accomplish that second goal, the Dark Souls decided to travel into the northern reaches of the Underdark to rescue Matriarch Marwen from the illithids of Dordekt's Legion. Jael wanted her cousin Allexander to stay behind in Dromire and help drum up support for overthrowing House Baudissin, but Allexander insisted on joining the party to be reunited with his mother. Irritated, Jael had to convince her mother Saskia to meet with the other houses instead. While the conversations between them could be intense, Jael still cared for her family and wanted to ensure they safely made it through this fragile moment in the Verschow.   As for the first goal, the party paid a visit to a book reading hosted by House Aribond to win them over as an ally in the coming revolution. This visit, if successful, would also provide the party with some useful insights through the divinatory powers of Matriarch Felosial. While Felosial took questions about The Sebastian Syndrome, Jael suffered through another run-in with Ereldra Baudissin while Nineveh, Poolp, and Verity stuffed themselves on the complimentary breadsticks. Ereldra's presence turned out to be an ill omen, as Nineveh and Poolp started suffering from a serious bout of breadstick poisoning.    After Lesser Restoring her party members, Jael and the others had a private meeting with Felosial. They returned the Book of Things to Come to her, and with some reassurances by Lachesis the young Matriarch was able to answer some pressing questions for the group:   1. Did Marwen send the letter announcing her return of her own volition? YES 2. Have the Baudissins made a deal with Naberius for the souls of the Verschovians to the devil? YES 3. Is Dordekt Dead? MAYBE 4. Were the Boudasins responsible for the assassination of Korda Aribond? YES 5. Does Father Eli Anderson truly intend on brokering peace with the Verschow? YES   Reassured by the answers (with the exception of the one about Dordekt), the Dark Souls made their final preparations before leaving Dromire that evening. Nineveh and Poolp purchased some healing potions, and Jael had her siblings Aristea and Thilo craft a magic shield from the decapitated head of the fomorian. Allexander's younger brother Arnulf agreed to help the party navigate these the outer reaches of the Underdark, and together they all ventured towards the hundreds of illithids in Dordekt's Legion.
