CoS Session 32: Sailing with Friends

General Summary

9/3/875

• Party hoofs it out of Kanara
• While they’re taking a rest Verona de Noves thanks them for rescuing her from Aldo
• She warns that she’s not ready to join The Handgun yet
• Party keeps eye on her, leaves her unarmed
• They make it to Lyman , port town at mouth of Kanara’s main river
• Nikolaj gets intel about the attack on the capital
• Turns out Fairouz has her own island/army to use now
• Bombing Kanara was the first step towards spreading her reign of terror across Liat.
• Now there are tons of refugees trying to flee to Ravi
• Nikolaj then searches for boat to Gameria
• Finds sad-looking guy named Oslo
• Sailor lost his entire crew in ship attack, ship saved him
• Initially asks for 3K, gets negotiated down to 500GP (long story)
• Elan has a night around town
• She parties and plays music, meets new people
• Shopkeeper promises her discount on ship supplies
• Adam takes Verona to dock tavern to start brawling
• He makes a scene and fights a tiefling in tense battle
• Not for any money though, just to fight
• Medraad tries to call Man in Black
• A fish/snake/man thing shows up instead in a suit
• Says Man in Black won’t meet with him until he gets to Gameria
• He’s tired of Avicenna
• The next day the party tries to haggle down boat and supply prices
• Elan puts on a few shows for shopkeeper, convinces him to lower ship prices
• Medraad pays for boat, sells a couple horses to Oslo to lower price
• party plays matchmaker, connects him with girl headed to Ravi too
• Her name’s Hela, they get along well
• Finally, party leaves Avicenna with one last middle finger from the ship

• Sailing’s pretty boring without a full crew
• Nikolaj sharpens knives, plays blackjack
• Adam and Medraad chat with Verona
• She explains her reasons for joining Three Fingers/Coven
• Medraad tries to get info on his relationship with Fairouz
• Elan chills out and plays music in crow’s nest
• One night they end up at northern cliff face of Castle Faouzia
• It’s the seat of Fairouz’s operation, towers and buildings set atop hill
• A lighthouse/tower lights up with a maddeningly orange symbol
• Everybody in party except for Nikolaj blanks out
• Elan has a vision of her family, telling her to stay by fire and play music
• She snaps out of it when they tell her Catriona is coming
• Adam has a vision of sitting with Sebastian after a show drinking milk
• He snaps out of it when he realizes that Sebastian’s dead
• Medraad, however, has a vision of Fairouz in her study
• She explains to him how close they are to Orange King and opening portal
• She reminds Medraad of all the time they spent together in Oakengaard cult
• She was always encouraging his research/curiosity
• She’s so persuasive and seductive, almost convinces Medraad to stay
• But he explains how he can be more help keeping eye on party
• Fairouz lets him leave, on condition of a web oath
• Upon return to Gameria, he must kill Roland Fireheart
• Medraad and Verona wake up, both w/ visions of Fairouz but little else
• Meanwhile Nikolaj has been steering ship all on his own
• Out of nowhere a spider-lobster (spobster) shows up demanding a sacrifice
• Elan turns him into baby lobster
• This gives time for Medraad and Verona to wake up
• Verona’s given light crossbow to help in fight
• Boss Battle: Spobster
• Verona keeps on shooting out bolts, one of them makes critical hit
• Spobster makes some sweeping attacks, but never KO’s team member
• Medraad fires eldritch blasts, which works wonders
• Adam’s punches are devastating, Elan’s vicious mockery doesn’t work
• Nikolaj delivers killing blow w/ith a well-placed stabs to eyes
• Party chops off pieces of spobster meat before body sinks into ocean
• Verona returns crossbow, but she’s reluctant to discuss vision
• Eventually says she saw Fairouz on night of Trecce meeting
• The same night the Red Hand split apart
• She can’t remember what Fairouz said, just like Medraad

• Party escapes from Faouzia, refuels in small fishing village of Chernenko
• Nikolaj sells spobster meat and old rapier
• Nothing worth stealing here, locals worship ocean god named Seevo
