Eipljord

There was a Tree, a Tree of Magic, and upon its branches grew a world. This world, which grew upon the tree as if an apple, became home to the Spirits of Light and the Spirits of Darkness. The Light and Dark Spirits fought for control over the world, and the victory of the Light was achieved when the majority of the Dark Spirits were drawn into a great hole in the universe and cast away...   The opening of the hole had unintended consequences, as it replaced the Dark Spirits with mortal life sampled from somewhere else. Animals, plants, and fungi all emerged...Alongside humans. Our arrival into Eipljord changed everything, and soon the spirits divided us among their domains. Nations rose, and nations fell. One spirit, The Scribe, created one of the most powerful countries ever known: The Vyrdic Empire. The Scribal Age and thus the Vyrdic Empire lasted several centuries, until civil unrest and barbarian invasions split it into five pieces.   We are now heading into the Ninth Century of the Post-Scribal Age, a time of great invention, runecrafting, and both magical and machine-based industry. Though the Scribe went into hiding after His Empire fell, we live in a world of empires and even their colonies that are close to achieving that quality of life our Vyrdic Ancestors once had. Guided by the spirits of old and new, we will rise to new heights!
