Wollard's Collection of Culinary Cuisines of the Aeyd
Duplicated a thousandfold, it is said that this tome of culinary cuisine is the most reproduced book in all of Eios. It has been reprinted in part or whole for anyone with access to the gold. Within its pages are endless recipes from the simplest stew to the elegant Aeydian Silk Cremes. Compiled by Wollard the Stout, a Dwarven chef from the west, the collection was meticulously brought to being by his time spent in the kitchens of the Aeyd Sylvan. Even the most simplest dishes he found were master crafted with extreme preciseness and detail. Every spice was hand picked and measured without failure, for too little would leave the pallet wanting, too much and the entirety of the meal was overpowered.
The majority of the dishes bring tingling sensations to the mouth, enough to liven the tongue and lips but not so much as to burn and cause severe discomfort. Even the Aeyd desserts, when executed properly, bring forth a spice and bite that is cooled with a second wave of fresh mintness to it. For several decades he gained the trust of the Aeyd and recorded their recipes before leaving the city to organize his notes and records. Precise and exacting scales were recorded and a strong emphasis placed within each individual recipe that should one replace a single ingredient then the whole thing would be a calamitous affair.
Purpose
The tome has helped establish a culinary standard among nobles, for he who could pull off the most exquisite recipe clearly had wealth unrivaled. Due to the nature of the ingredients being so rare, typically only being found in Aeydria, only the wealthiest of people could afford to even attempt such dishes. Since its creation about two hundred years ago the markets of Aeydria have seen an uptick in wealth with emissaries and merchants from across the continent coming for their rare ingredients, and by decree of the Aeydrian Sylvan only so much may sold to outsiders, thus creating a constantly wanting market and somewhat artificial supply and demand.
