Fafnir, the Poisonous Deciever

Written by The Scarlet Queen

"I will use you my little puppet, to make a world choke on their own tongues." -Talindra Tal'therin-

The Greatest Deception: During the Great Crash, the frail body of the green elder dragon fell into an open plain, she smashed through the dirt and slid into a very swampy bog. Her legs barely had the strength to stand and she sunk into the mud to her neck. She struggled and struggled but the more she fought the muck the more it consumed her. Finally, the dragon gave up not wanting to be lost any further. A tribal humanoid figure approached they were tall, had dark skin, long pointed ears, and looked strong and capable. Fafnir, felt a hunger stirring inside her, looking at the face of this innocent being, she spoke out to it and told the creature, "If you free me from this muck I will give you the power to rule over all the land you can see." The humanoid figure was taken aback but agreed to help her in exchange for this power. The figure left to his tribe bringing back the rest of them, and through their combined efforts the dragon was freed from the muck. As Fafnir shook off the mud from her she turned her gaze upon this tribe that had saved her. For a moment she thought, "I should give them what I promised, but it would be far simpler to not." Fafnir exhaled a large cloud of gas at the tribe as it hit every person their eyes began to burn and their eyesight was lost. "Now you have the power to rule all the land you can see!" she sneered and took off into the sky. Fafnir's right eye surged with power and she felt a euphoric rush of strength, for each being she deceived Fafnir would grow stronger.     The Unrightful Queen: Fafnir joined the brood, under the reign of Nidhogg, as he was crowned the "Sun Eater" Nidhogg imparted to her wisdom in how to expand upon her own power. The world in its young state had very few intelligible creatures to deceive. She had to bide her time and be creative with how she would trick the same entity twice to gain more power. Fafnir's efforts left her growing at a very slow rate, and she fell behind the rest of the brood. She became angry and jealous of her brother Nidhogg for the simplicity of his rise. She believed she deserved to be on a throne among her siblings as she was the smartest of them all. Hræsvelgr was heralded as the most trusted of Nidhogg's brood, whenever something was brought to his attention he would consult Hræsvelgr and she would answer truthfully. Fafnir knew she had the power to bypass this, and so by weaving a tale of partial truth she was able to convince Hræsvelgr that Nidhogg was a threat to them all. With Nidhogg continuing to grow more and more powerful the thought of what would happen if Nidhogg decided to consume them left Hræsvelgr with fear in her heart at the words Fafnir, Fafnir said if the eye was removed from Nidhogg they would be able to manage him better. Hræsvelgr responded, "You are right we must stop him, sister, we must call our siblings together!" The battle took place in the sky, the four elder dragon siblings fought against Nidhogg, and in a moment of weakness, Nidhogg was defeated. The eye was ripped from Nidhogg and his body came crashing into the earth. Hræsvelgr knew the truth immediately of what she had done, and the impact that it had on Nidhogg. Hræsvelgr turned to Fafnir and screeched "You have deceived us all! and you have made a villain out of me!" Fafnir sneered as her eye began to swell with incredible power, the greatest deception had worked. Hræsvelgr left and was not seen again sealing herself away with the Eye of Nidhogg trying to atone for her sins. Fafnir however being the new queen of the brood took her other two siblings and began to manipulate them against the humanoid races of Wrynolia.   The Death of Midgardsomr: Fafnir took her youngest and most influenced sibling Midgardsomr to a city far to the north named Yakastroma, there one of the largest northern settlements of the time was growing in population very quickly. Fafnir wanted to use her power to manipulate and deceive the population and then use her brother to wipe their memory clean. Midgardomr followed his sister's direction for a time but saw the pain and impact it was having on the mental stability of the people. Midgardsomr refused one day to further her plans any longer. Fafnir enraged turned her breath on the city and breathed into it a cloud of pure venom and death, the population was cut down by almost three-quarters by the strength of the vile poison. Midgardsomr tried to fight against Fafnir but she was so much more powerful than him she easily pinned him overpowering him with one fluid motion. In the streets a girl stood crying over the bodies of her deceased parents, she looked at the dragons with pain and confusion on her face. Fafnir turned her eye upon the girl and spoke."Look little girl what this dragon has done to your village, he must be slain, and to you, I impart the hatred and strength to hunt him endlessly." The girl's eyes glowed with green sinister energy and her tears were replaced with fury and the fire of hate. The little girl named Isolde Valeron became a fierce warrior along with her surviving town, and they formed a coalition of dragon slayers that would come to hunt and kill Midgardsomr.     Fafnir the Puppet: Fafnir went into hiding after the deception and death of her siblings, she sought more ways to grow stronger, and eventually her trail was picked up by a woman named Talindra Tal'therin. in search of the power of an Elder Dragon eye. Talindra was the rightful sibling of the Tal'therin bloodline and was swapped at birth for a prostitute's daughter when she found out she burned with rage and took a group slew Fafnir in her lair. Taking the eye of deception she reincarnated the dragon but refused to give it its personality, she made it a mindless puppet that served her, and Talindra became the new deceiver.
