Royal Knights Order of Weltmar

Every kingdom claims to have knights or the equivalent. This is a falsehood. What most have are pumped up nobles on expensive horses, playing knights in battle with peasants and each other. No, Weltmar has knights. They are the embodiment of courage, self-sacrifice, loyalty and martial prowess. I have seen a single knight best a dozen orcs. I have see them ride down centaur marauders.

Structure

The Order is directly led by the King, or in his absence, his daughter Lethina, who holds the title Knight Commander.

Assets

At his height, the Weltmare knights numbered 300, each trained since childhood and equipped with the best armor one could access. The organization enjoyed considerable wealth, much that was given back to the people as an act of charity.

History

The Weltmarian knights were first assembled under Weltmars first queen. She took both commoners and hedgeknigts without a house under her banner and elevated them to help fight against a enemy that had proven to much for the meager military she had been able to muster against the centaur raiders. She had the equipent, she had the horses. Just not the nobles to sit on them. So she broke a taboo, she made knights out of anyone good enough to ride and fight on equal ground of that of a centaur.
And thus, the first Weltmarian Knights were born. They saw a lot of redicule and downright loathing from Melfician knights, who were all noblemen who been born into their status as knights. But under their Queen, the royal knights of Weltmar simply grew into unstoppable force.
It was shock to everyone, when the order was slaughtered to the man in the first undying war, with their leader King Haldir the Second torn to shreds.

Disbandment

The death of the King and supposedly all of the royal family, as well as most of the members of the order. The Fall of Weltmar meant the fall of the order. There is no recorded survivors of the order.
