The Mine Job Session Report
General Summary
Our heroes were tasked by the Black Rose to investigate the recent deaths in the voidwater mine at Deepfathom Well. They met with a familiar face, Kadie Quickstep in her new shop called The Mortar and Pestle in Davenport who filled them in on what is currently known about voidwater.
They saved a messenger on the road North to Whitesparrow named Bran (the fact of which later got M.A.R.S. out of a sticky situation with Sheriff Ruth Willowmane in Whitesparrow, the less of that said the better)
After making their way to Whitesparrow and interacting with the locals, they headed on to Deepfathom Well to meet with their guild contact, Daronith Deepfathom, the owner of the mine. Shortly after arriving in town, The Fallen Rod Inn was attacked by a small group of cultists bearing what looked like large black circular tattoos on their chests. Our heroes managed to deal with the cultists and resuscitate those townsfolk who got caught in the crossfire.
After speaking with Daronith, our heroes decided to first investigate Aleith Skyborn at the Church of the High Sun. They interrupted a sermon in progress when Masou Torak accused Aleith of being a false prophet, this allowed ShizuKana Taki to squeeze Tsib through some cracks in the floor and discover the set of stairs leading downstairs.
They came back that night and snuck into the church and down the stairway, Zovak almost being skewered by a trap along the way. They uncovered the Cathedral of the Black Sun where it appeared Aleith was in the process of converting another member to his cause under a floating giant black orb. After dealing with the cultists here, and unsure what to do about the orb, they headed back out of the church and down the mineshaft.
They reached the bottom of the mine shaft and were struck by the shear size of the Voidwater Cavern, realizing that time was against them they moved quickly through the cavern and were set upon by a large black ooze-like creature. After some quick thinking backfired, M.A.R.S. was repeatedly pummelled by a now flaming black ooze to well past an inch of his life.
After making their way out of the mine, our heroes met with Daronith to let her know about the terrors in her mine that are now cleared out. They agreed to allow her to reopen her mine, despite the potential catastrophe that coming into voidwater can be. They headed back to Whitesparrow with Daronith where they met with Sheriff Ruth Willowmane and Lord Marlin Whitesparrow to discuss what went on under the Church of the High Sun. They agreed to post guards until someone can come in from Davenport to investigate the ethereal black orb floating in the cavern under the church.

Secrets Uncovered
- There are issues with the governorship of Crossroads, to the West of Davenport
- There is some sort of ancient evil under the Church of the High Sun in Deepfathom Well
- Voidwater seems to have some sort of effect on people, small amounts bring them to a sort of Unlife state, while too much turns them into ghouls.
- Something about the voidwater and it's interaction with the cavern allows for the creation of the ooze creature, Black Pudding
