Session 006 Report

General Summary

The party find themselves deciding whether to fight a green dragon and gain a potentially powerful ally in Reidoth the Druid , or head back to Phandalin with just the jeweled comb they found in the Dendrin Apothecary shop.
After much debating, it was decided that the dragon must be dealt with. A plan was formed to lie in wait for the Dragon Cultists to come with an offering for the dragon, once the offering was made the group would make a series of ranged attacks on the dragon from outside of it's tower lair. The plan worked surprisingly well with the party doing a massive amount of damage to the dragon at the outset. They also managed to deal with the cultists when Reidoth called own lighting on the dragon's head.
Combat waxed and waned in the party's favour as two members were laid low by attacks from the dragon. Eventually Twig managed to land the killing blow on the dragon, almost severing its head from its body. After taking a few trophies and Blackbriar taking down a cultist running up to avenge the dragon, the party went into the dragon's lair and discovered its hoard, under the hoard Tag'nik and Twig sensed a powerful and evil magic lurking. As they got close, the sound around them become muffled and eventually disappeared all together, replaced with a deep thrumming sound. Dark tendrils, pulsing with magic, appeared to extend from the source of this magic. After pulling away the dragon's hoard, they could see a small orb with a dark swirling mist inside sitting at the bottom of a crack in the foundation of the tower. Twig, could not help herself and grabbed the orb wrapping it in a cloth from her pack. They placed in the orb inside a chest and then stuffed it in the bag of holding, after doing this they no longer heard the deep thrumming noise apparently caused by the orb.
The party made their way back to Phandalin with Reidoth in toe with a plan to send Barthen back to Thundertree to skin the dragon and have Reidoth show them the way to Wave Echo Cave .
