Takowa

Takowa is a large realm on the lower circle of the Sky Reaches. Though a great deal of architecture remains from the Age of Prosperity, there are few Zan Machal artifacts to be found. The post-calamity history of Takowa is well detailed but wrought with conflict.

Government

Takowa is and has been for the last several centuries, ruled by an emperor. The emperor holds his personal demesne in the center of the realm, while the rest of the lands are ruled by three lords. Takowans are quick to military conflict though, and war often brews over the position of emperor. Currently, Liu Kao of the three brothers has achieved the position of emperor. This was brought about during the Kinship war where he was supported by the Champions of Hakar and the Plains Riders. His former position as lord of the north remains a hot political matter.

Religion

All Takowans follow the teachings of their god Takao, the general. All Takowans believe themselves to be soldiers in Takao's army, whether combatants or not. This has caused the people of Takowa to value martial prowess more than other Nissa. The current champion of Takao is a Plains Rider known as Inteff.

Demographics

The population of Takowa is vastly in favor of its native people. However, there have been some few outsiders to find a home on Takowa.

Takowans

Takowans are similar to canines found on other realms, however, their form, stature and intelligence are comparable to other Nissa in Edonna. The look and variation of Takowans from there are expansive. The gene pool among Takowans is highly diverse and ever-evolving. None are sure what Takowans looked like in the distant past, but many experts believe the true Takowan genetics were bred out millennia ago.

Plains Riders

Takowans who denounced the cities of the old world and took to the wilds are known as Plains Riders. Plains Riders tend to be of similar genetics compared to the city-dwelling Takowans. Most are tall, strong and broad-shouldered. Plains riders also tend to have darker fur, longer narrower snouts than other Takowans. Though, the plains riders in the past welcomed all who denounced the teachings of the city, thus, the appearance of many families amongst the Plains Riders have begun to change.
