Wild Azolla
The Azolla hails from The Eternal Valley, a self-contained ecosystem bounded on all sides by tall mountains. The environment there is harsh, and the local flora doubly so. One such plant is the Azolla, a man-sized flowering plant whose petals form into a massive set of jaws. One accidental brush against this "mouth" will cause the plant to grab and attempt to consume you. It's very strong and as it begins to close, acid will excrete from around you and begin to dissolve you for digestion as well.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Large round base that connects to the root network. A tall thick stalk connects the base to the "jaw" which hangs loosely to one side until stimulated.
Genetics and Reproduction
The base creates buds which grow into lumps then fall off. They are primarily spread through a certain species of bird that tries to take them as food, only to realize they are inedible and drop them elsewhere in the jungle.
Ecology and Habitats
Warm, moist environments, though if fed a continuous supply of meat, the Azolla can survive in drier climates.
Scientific Name
Andalusious Retch
