Braval's Rise (Brah-vahl's Rise)
Geography
A large expansive mountain range that covers a large portion of the continent.
It is the source for most of the lakes and fresh water along the eastern side of Ecadia with one large lake right at the base.
The mountains are tall and sharp with cliff faces and steep inclines all along it's range.
Ice and snow form at the peaks and melt their way down the sides to contribute to the flow of fresh water.
Ecosystem
Due to their sharp inclines and hazardous nature very little life dwells amongst the mountains. Occasionally at the lower altitudes with smaller slopes you can see small patches of mountain flora.
Many large birds claim these lower peaks as their nests and occasional goats or mountain wolves have been spotted however tracking them has been proven hard.
Rare flowers used in important potions and magic rituals have been found only within these ranges, locating and collecting said flowers is very dangerous.
Localized Phenomena
Disappearances are common along the mountain range, explorers and adventurers try to tackle the trecherous terrain and are frequently never seen or heard from again. The few who make it back often babble about mysterious shadows and noises in the night, only to wake up all alone.
Fauna & Flora
Goats, wolves and birds are the most commonly seen fauna.
Very little natural flora grows amongst these ranges but there are some rare purple, blue and orange flowers along with short grass and shrubbery.
Natural Resources
Stone, Copper, Iron, ancient dwarven artifacts.
History
Once home to a long forgotten civilization of Dwarves during the Age of Illumination, their kin vanished and were presumed to be wiped out during the events of Godfall. Artifacts have begun to surface in recent years as mortals once again explore and farm the mountains for resources.
It's rumoured that in these ranges a set of old Dwarven ruins were uncovered and have yet to be explored, people believe that to be what sparked the recent war of the east.
It was this mountain range where Gildern Braval, a hero of the Salvation, rose up and gave his life to deal the killing blow to Queen Freigal, the last of the cloud giants that ruled the mountain range.
The range was renamed Braval's Rise to honour the fallen hero and his sacrifice for the freedom of the people living under the enslavement of the giants.
