The Timeless Wilds

Location

The Timeless Wilds are located in the south-easternmost corner of Cadalyn. Due to the many predators roaming the Wilds, this area of Cadalyn is mostly uncharted. Even The Finders of Fortune send only their most experienced members on missions in the Wilds.

History & Lore

The first reference of The Timeless Wilds goes back to a record from The Age of Dread but even then it was described as an ancient forest of unimaginable magnitude. Many scholars believe that The Timeless Wilds have been around since the dawn of time.   The few adventurers that made a trip into the Wilds and have survived, spoke of strange occurrences and creatures and plants unheard of on the Mortal Plane. It seems that many plants and creatures that cannot be found elsewhere on this plane, have made the Wilds their home. There have been reports of Korreds, Satyrs, and Eldrin, who normally are native to the Feywild plane. There are hushed whispers of companions lost to the throes of pleasure elicited from Fey revelries, laughing and dancing until they dropped dead, comrades meeting misfortune after following the whispers of the Wilds and friends succumbing to madness after coming into contact with one of the many strange plants dotting the landscape.
It was uncanny, one minute we were following the path, hoping to find the Elven Settlement we had found tracks for and next we know, Quinn wanders off, saying 'They will hold me no longer.' over and over again. We managed to follow him all the way to a giant lake with water so clear you should have been able to see right to the bottom. And yet, there seemed to be no end to how deep the lake went. Before we could stop him, Quinn walked right into the lake and, I swear by the Gods, there were no ripples on the surface when he made his way into the water. And once he was fully submerged in the water he was just gone, as if he had never existed. We could not see him in the water and even after waiting for a few hours, there was no corpse to be found, as if the world had just swallowed him whole. The whole lake could be a portal for all we know but with all the strange things happening in the Wilds and no way of knowing where this potential portal might have lead to, the rest of us decided to leave. That was twenty years ago...and to this day I have never set a foot even close to this cursed place again.
