The Feywild

Home to the Fey

Introduction:

Welcome to Styx's Guide to the Feywild! Not many non-Fey are ever privy to walking the Feywild, and those who do, should be painfully aware of the fact that danger is lurking around every corner. The following section covers the Feywild, also called The Plane of Faerie by some.   The Feywild is roughly divided into four parts, one for each Court, with neutral territory separating the Courts. The neutral territory blends the different biomes and serves as a transition between them. Every Court has a Palace where its members gather, socialize, and scheme.

Geography

Spring Court:

The territory of the Spring Court consists of many rolling hills and extensive meadows, with flowers in perpetual bloom, with some great mountain ranges. The climate is generally mild, with typically sunny and slightly clouded days, with occasional heavy downpours.   The Spring Court's Palace is an extensive network of underground passageways and great halls underneath the hills.

Summer Court:

Similar to the Spring Court, much of the Summer Court's territory is covered in hills and meadows, with plenty of lakes. Roughly a fourth of the territory is desert. The sweet smell of fruits permeates the air, originating from the Summer Court's famous orchards and their fruit wines.   The biggest winery in the Summer Court actually also doubles as the Court's palace. That being said, Court is typically held outside, underneath the starlight.

Autumn Court:

Forests covered in a perpetual autumn blanket cover wast expanses of this territory. It is the most forested out of all the Courts.   The Autumn Court's Palace is in the treetops of the ancient trees surrounding a clearing. The intricate platforms and treehouses were painstakingly druidcrafted from the giant old trees over many years without damaging the trees in the process.

Winter Court:

The forests of the Winter Court are blanketed in a thick layer of snow. Wast open plains with frozen lakes and icy tundras cover the remainder of the territory.   The Palace of the Winter Court is a majestic building hewn from ice and proudly stands in such a tundra.

Localized Phenomena

Due to the magic of the Feywild, the seasons of the Courts are unchanging.   Some travelers lose a few hours or even days when entering or exiting the Plane of Faerie. Many believe this to be from time passing differently in the Feywild than it does in the Mortal Realm. As a seasoned planar traveler, however, I can assure you that time flows much two same in both planes. That being said, the time loss some people experience is very much real, only it stems from the travel between the planes. As long as you avoid wayward portals between the realms and do not let inexperienced spell casters shift you between dimensions, you will not lose any time.

Fauna & Flora

The Flora and Fauna of the Feywild is incredibly diverse and dependent on the Court. Those interested in the Fauna of the Feywild will find more details in section three of this work.
