Morrigan - Goddess of Fate

MORRIGAN

Known As: Goddess of Fate, The Harbinger, The Red Queen, The Shadow Phantom
Morrigan is a celestial god, birthed under the Tree of Shadows and with her two sister gods, Badh and Macha, forms the three-pronged God of Death or the Morrigu. She is one of the most feared dieties due to her central role as the keeper of destiny. The denizens of Eashar believe that the Morrigan will appear at the moment of ones death to guide mortals to Awranus for judgement - a legend that cements an eternal fear of her.   The Morrigu was central in the War of the Gods, being the first to rebel against Belenus and his judgement of the Deviant Gods. With the help of Viridios, Morrigan was a leader of the Tuatha de Danaan. Following their defeat in the climatic battle of the War, Morrigan was almost slain by Belenus before Danu intervened and proclaimed the war at an end. Uth'Linn disregarded Danu's proclaimation and attempted to destroy Morrigan and remove fate from the world. This led Danu to destroy Uth'Linn - a show of power that made even Belenus kneel to the Earth Mother's wish.   The Morrigan is linked to the Banshee, an ethereal being that is considered an omen of imminent death for a family member of any who hear their scream. With Lu'taine, Morrigan is also responsible for various prophets documented in history with Fiachra being the most infamous.   The Morrigan had a relationship with the human hero Cu'Chulainn and it said spawned a number of children. While the lineage has been lost to time, many believe that line survives and is found in those who can glimpse fate....   Travellers through the Andresi wasteland sometimes claim to see a woman in red, surrounded by crows, kneeling at the foot of a giant stone in the middle of a major crater. It is claimed that this stone is the deathplace of her lover, Cu'Chulainn - a fact disputed by the Church of Valar.
