Raal'shi (Rahl-she)

Humanoid Lizardfolk. Raal'shi look mostly human, but have scales on their abdomen (covering lungs on the side) on their face, have horns and have (20"-40") tails. The Raal’shi have lived the last few hundred years as vagrants and slaves, and as a result have lost much of their heritage and culture to time, but a few remnants of that culture still remain ingrained, almost naturally, within the Raal’shi themselves.

Blood of the ancestors

Despite having no official history beyond the last few centuries, the Raal'shi have deep inate ties to their ancestral blood. Once per long rest they may call upon this blood to protect them. Roll a number of d4 equal to your proficiency modifier and gain that amount of temporary HP.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Raal'shi names tend to be single syllable or two hypenated syllables There doesn't tend to be much distinction between male and female names. Names favor long vowel sounds. Outside of this, assimilated Raal'shi will adapt the culture they are raised into.
Traditionally, Raal'shi do not have last names, but refer to themselves by their fathers and grandfathers and order of birth. I.E "I am [blank], first son of [blank]."
Examples include: Sh'en, Ura, Yohl, U'rom, Yin'fer, Kiba, Slah'zal, Ohm.

History

According to most surviving historical documents from the time, the Raal'shi appeared all over Imalith one day around 2,000 years ago. Most countries at the time were barely developing and many of the confused Raal'shi were killed outright due to paranoia related to their mysterious appearance. The more open of the civilizations allowed in the Raal'shi and the Raal'shi just became a part of their culture.
One country in particular that developed was the Chavalet Empire, which once spanned over most of Imalith. However, xenophobia and racism caused the Empire to split, with one side naming itself 'The Holy State of Noskana', built on the original capital of the Empire. Noskana built itself on the Doctrine of the Goddess, a once small religion that outlined a Hierachy of Races that their society was built upon. The doctrine was particularly harsh towards ther Raal'shi as not being part of the Goddess' plan, or are demons. This divide was the catalyst that began the descent of the Empire. In less than 100 years, the Empire shrank from about 70% of Imalith, into the deserts of the North Western Imalith. When Noskana officially broke away from the Empire, the After Empire calendar began being used.
The Raal'shi Rebellions (Around 820 AE) describes a 20 year event in which slaves from Noskana, lead by the Raal'shi, escaped to the Eshar Tribelands, a notoriously harsh enviroment. Over the 20 years, thousands of slaves were freed and fled to the Tribelands and elsewhere. The organized freed slaves eventually reached an agreement with Noskana that no longer designated Raal'shi as outside the Goddess' plan, and would at least no longer be kept as (official) slave, though conditions for Raal'shi in Noskana are not much better.
