Earth: Post-Fall

Welcome to the New World, the planet has undergone catastrophic geological transformation, affecting the entire world, and wreaking havoc both on the surface and deep within the bowls of the Earth. After decades of environmental turmoil, in which the oceans themselves heave to and fro, causing planetary disasters and toppling mankind to the brink of extinction. The oceans became embroiled and formed mountainous tidal waves towering thousands of metres into the sky, submerged entire continents. The very plates under the great seas themselves fell away, and crashed together to change shape of the globe forever. This event, the origins of which have been lost or buried, had much more severe repercussions that initially realised, and the world was plunged into geological chaos for several decades.   Out of the chaos, several great Arks emerged on the seas, making a treacherous journey to find land to re-colonize. These gigantic vessels had rescued whatever they could, to start a new life on land. They brought science, technologies, livestock and great libraries, but after many years drifting across the oceans that rose and fell for so long, so much was lost. Permanent land had almost become a futile hope. A hope held only by those who clung to broken, and failing Old-World religions. After several years, the remaining Arks formed fledgling nations and empires, which raced to claim the new world they had found themselves in.   Several hundred years have passed since the first Arks made landfall, the world is in a state of perpetual Cold-War, with small nation-states vying for limited territory, while larger, more prosperous factions clamour for scarce resources, and valuable Old-Tech. A vastly diverse world has blossomed from a rapidly fading disaster, but what else has been affected by these maelstroms of the past?
