Valerian Empire

The Valerian Empire is one of the most of the powerful nations on the continent of Volaria as well as one of the oldest. The empire has become famous for it's powerful military, large industry, and powerful diplomatic position. The Empire has been through numerous wars with it's neighbors ever since being founded by Emperor Alexander I in 1345. In present day, the empire has strong diplomatic relations with many countries and is a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Structure

The Valerian Empire is a parliamentary monarchy where the Emperor holds significant power and the Imperial Parliament has the power to make laws which the monarch can approve or veto. Along with the Emperor, there is the Chancellor and Imperial Council. The Chancellor serves as the Emperor's personal advisor and the Imperial Council is made up of the heads of each of the Empire's main departments such as the Navy, Army, Treasury, War, etc. The members of Parliament are elected into Parliament by the people every 5 years in public elections.

Military

The Valerian military is one of the most powerful in the world. Their military is divided into the three branches, The Valerian Imperial Army, Valerian Imperial Navy, and Valerian Imperial Air Force. Their navy is the second largest in the world, having ten aircraft carriers and many smaller vessels. Their army is also one of the world's largest, maintaining about 1,000,000 active troops and another 900,000 reserve troops for a total of 1.9 million troops along with thousands of tanks and other vehicles. The main reason the Empire maintains such a large military presence is because of their southern border with their greatest rival, the Kingdom of Growax, who also has a strong military. Each military branch has a head commander who has a seat on the Imperial Council.

Foreign Relations

The Valerian Empire has strong diplomatic relations with most countries with their strongest allies being the Akadian Empire and the United States of Kelsdorpe. They have a strong rivalry with their southern neighbor, the Kingdom of Growax. The two nations have had this rivalry for centuries and they have fought many wars with each other.

Agriculture & Industry

The Empire is a global industrial superpower. The Empire is mainly involved with mining and manufacturing industries. They have many factories in their cities and are a dominant force in several global industries. The Empire is one of the world's main producers of steel, valuable gemstones, oil, and weaponry. The Empire's armaments industry is the third largest in the world, behind the Akadian Empire and the United States of Kelsdorpe. Their agricultural industry is also very large as the southeast of the Empire is very fertile and is home to many farms.

Trade & Transport

The Empire has a extensive and efficient transport network. It mainly makes use of trains to transport goods and people. The Valerian railway system is one of Volaria's largest mainly due to the efforts of Emperor Vincent I, who pushed for the expansion of the Empire's railways as he saw them as a efficient way of transporting the Empire's goods. The empire also has a very large and well connected highway system to connect population centers.

The Valerian Empire is one of the world's main exporters in steel, valuable gemstones, luxury items, weapons, and oil. They export their goods to virtually every major global country.

Legislative Body

The Empire's legislative body is the Imperial Parliament. The Parliament is made up of representatives from each major city. They are elected every five years by their respective city's population. They work for one of the Empire's various political parties. The largest of these parties are the Valerian Militarist Party, Valerian Industrialist Party, and the Valerian Labor Party. The Parliament creates laws and then sends them to the Emperor which he can then accept or veto. If the Emperor vetoes the law but, Parliament wishes it to pass then they can hold a vote. If the law gets a 2/3 majority vote or more, it bypasses the Emperor and becomes law. The Chancellor is the Head of Parliament and he is elected every 10 years.

Judicial Body

The Empire's judicial body is the Imperial Court. The Court is made up of 10 Federal Judges and out of them, a Grand Judge is chosen to lead the court. The judges work in the court until retirement or death. They can be taken out of office by the Emperor or Parliament if they are proven to be corrupt or have commited a serious crime.
