Tensions are high for the European continent in 1939, with the German Chancellor vying for power in increasingly brash moves. Months before his planned blitz into Polish territory, a saboteur made an assassination attempt during which a second saboteur attempted to stop the first who became foiled by a third as they themselves were stopped. Unfortunately, the specifics of the Great Time Crash are literally lost to history.   The Earth Temporal Agency (ETA), established in the late 22nd century, locked the period of time from 1939-1954 outside of causality to prevent the Crash from utterly destroying reality. In a global press conference soon after the restructuring of the timeline, ETA officials stated that due to the severity and wide-reaching impact of the Crash, that some aspects could not be restructured. This explains some new cities, facilities, and power structures that didn't exist prior, as well as the large minority of the global populace newly gifted with fantastical skills or abilities.   Now, in 2011, the world is seeing a renewed interest in superscience. Many nations work with the ETA to ensure that there isn't a repeat of the Crash. Powered individuals have been loosely deputized by law enforcement to assist in dealing with threats posed by self-described 'villains' above the capacity of standard police officers, though the occasional unregistered 'hero' tries to help outside the system. Supers with enough power, raw talent, or celebrity are kicked up the chain to more international positions. This allows for open-call recruitment to take their place on the local level.   Applications for San Laoch protectors are open.
