Changing of the Guard

The Changing of the Guard is a common practice with many militaries, but this article deals with the practice conducted by Aegis Security. The Aegis Honor Guard is the special guard and VIP security force for Aegis Security. Although not as "elite" as the Exo Corps, it is by far the most prestigious role in the entire corporation, surpassing even the upper management. Only the best of the best of Aegis Security employees are permitted to apply to the Honor Guard, typically coming from the Exo Corps or Sniper Corps. Each year, on July 1st, members who have been in the Guard for five years are rotated out, and new members are rotated in. This is the Changing of the Guard.

The Changing of the Guard is an elaborate affair, conducted at Aegis Security Headquarters in Sarissa, East African Federation. A large parade is set up, and the two dozen or so successful applicants are personally inducted into the Guard by the CEO and their commanding officers. They are given a gun salute by a ship offshore, and a jet flyover. Following the completion of this parade and salute, the new members are immediately assigned to their protective details. Although expensive and time-consuming, the event is looked at favourably by the members of Aegis Security, as it boosts their espirit-de-corps.
