Kendra Bourneholt Character in Earth 2.0 | World Anvil

Kendra Bourneholt

Kendra stood staring in awe at the giant shifting mass of white geometric shapes that merged and intersected above the remains of the old Houses of Parliament. So entranced she no longer cared about anyone spotting her there in exclusion zone. The consequences could be dire if they did, she could be transported to Antarctica for fear of her mutating. But she trusted in the cosmos and its eternal design, so long as she was needed where she stood she would not be caught.   She rose her arms towards the rift in realities and slowly fell to one knee as she had seen herself do each night in her dreams as she travelled to London. The journey had taken almost a year from her home enclave on the East Coast of what was once America. He first boat had only taken her to the South West of the European Continent and from there she had walked to the north of what was once France. Stopping where she could at various enclaves that she passed on her journey. Each time she would recant a portion of her dreams. Each time she would be asked to move on. She knew that her words would stick with those she left behind, at least some of them. For those where it did she we see them again soon enough.   Her pilgrimage had been both long and dangerous. Importantly it had shown her how much of the world humanity had lost control of in the wake of The Glitch. And each night she dreamt of this moment, dreamt that she would stand after as a guiding beacon for humanity. She would lead to a new age of prosperity and harmony.   Her knee touched the broken tarmac road in front of the twisted, melted and deformed gates of Westminster. The burnt out remains of cars still smelt vaguely of smoke and a slight putrid scent emanated from mutant and human remains alike that were no more than piles of degraded mass this many years after the millennium. She closed her eyes and focused on the subtle pulses that rippled out from the rift. The rhythm was hers alone a gift afforded to her by the eternal design. Moments passed and her heart began to pulse in time with the rhythm a tingle build within her outstretched hands. The pulses began to sound in her ear building from a soft timid thrum up to a triumphant orchestral crescendo in moments. Kendra felt her very soul was in tune with the cosmos and the heartbeat of its very flesh.   She opened her eyes starting deep into the rift. The rhythm washing over her, infusing her. The tingle had spread across her physical form. Causing waves of sensation in perfect harmony with the cosmic heartbeat.   The white geometric gate in realty crystallised and cleared. She could see through to the eye of the cosmos the very being of creation itself. And she opened her mind to it. The rhythm's tempo increasing and decreasing as it shared thoughts with Kendra. Images of past and future, means to interpret them and a path to show to sentient life. The cosmos sang to her and she echoed in chorus with it.   She could have been there for days or mere moments, Kendra could never know. But when the cosmos has impart its last bit of knowledge that Kendra could handle its rhythm began to waver and fade. With a gasp of air her body animated suddenly as if it had been frozen and a new weight lay in her outstretched hands and wrapped around her body.   Standing she looked down at the deep red and silver trimmed robe that she now wore with a black sleeve dotted with white and blue and purple hued smudges. Weary she rested on the staff she now held, a head taller than her it was ornately carved out of a smooth black material that felt warm to the touch and detailed with gold and silver inlay depicting stars and constellations. On top of the staff sat a trio of eyes cast of gold, diamond and a purple substances she did not know. The pupil of each eyes was different too. One was a three point star, another a hexagon with a line through it and the last a complex symbol reminiscent of a logo graphic script. Each pupil and eye were suspended above the staff, with no physical connection apart from a wispy red-purple hued mist.   Kendra took her new visage in before setting of into London, and finding her first disciples.
