Spirits of the Deep
Tales from The Cities Below whisper of spirits that change the very composition of the world itself.
Long have mining communities of the world spoken of barren mountains riddled with mine shafts out of the lost ages of antiquity that almost overnight are rejuvenated, shafts filled in with fresh stone and inlaid with ores of iron, gold, coal, diamond, electrum, as if they had never been spent at all.
More than once have whispers spread that quarried stone has reappeared, as though the earth itself held a guardian spirit determined to undo the changes wrought by mortals, though the stone walls that were built from the quarry were left intact.
As rare as these occurrences are, it is even rarer for anyone to witness such a change happening. The very few stories that have emerged describing such events claim that strange, faintly buzzing, shining mist accompanies the changes.
