Coral Fabric Dye

Summer Camp 2021 article - Under Contruction

In a town on the east coast of Ghynzua a coral dye is made which has become popular far beyond the empire. The increase in demand caused the town to grow because of an influx of people looking for a job. Coral is an uncommon color in fabrics for most parts of the world. This has potentially contributed to the popularity of this particular dye.

Secret Formula

The exact formula for how to make the dye is only known to the people of Linoha. What is known is that a specific type of sea snails is used in the production fo the dye, and possibly also a plant. The production process takes several weeks, and multiple steps. The end product is a powder which people can use to make a coloring bath for fabrics.

Common Use

The dye is sold in its powder form with instructions on how to use it to dye fabrics. Wool, linen, and various other fabrics can be dyed using the powder. The then coral colored fabric is used to make clothing and accesories. More wealthy people might even have curtains or bedsheets dyed coral.

Trade and Market

Ghynzuan coral dye has become an increasingly important part of the empires export market. However, it is as popular in the empire as anywhere else. Trade caravans travel to the settlement twice a week, buying the dye to sell elsewhere, and providing the town with essentials they can't produce themselves. For Linoha their dye is their biggest source of income. It provides many jobs to the people of the town. But all these workers have need for food and essential or luxury items. This provides jobs for people like fishermen, bakers, metalsmiths, etc.
