Jiangshi

In the distant mountains of Terr'Aina, magic runs wild and free, creating and clashing in ways that shape not just the physical landscape, but the spiritual as well. It is here that Jiangshi often come from. Sometimes when a humanoid dies in these areas, they are reborn through curious and fickle magic, beginning a new life. Just as the causal magic is fickle, so too is the result of the revivification. Some Jiangshi have little remnants of their past, existing as empty shells no more sentient than a walking corpse. Other Jiangshi, however, vividly remember life, and are able to talk, move and even use magic. These Jiangshi have sometimes even blended with living beings' societies, and to mixed results. Jiangshi are not inherently evil - yet the strain of knowing death firsthand and clinging to a lifeless body can drive a soul to madness.

In terms of appearance, Jiangshi resemble their original race, but often have pale skin, usually a light purple or washed out skin tone from their previous life. Jiangshi also possess a notable hopping gait when walking, with the most base hopping everywhere and the motion still being apparent in ones capable of walking normally. Jiangshi will sometimes be seen with talisman on their faces or body, which servers multiple purpose from control to protection of the body.
