The Order of the Uendronei

Created by Christopher

History

The Order of the Uendronei has been a religion/cult/order of magicians for quite some time, and after its initial emergence period of persecution, it became quite the popular cause and one of the largest religions of the world, especially when it joined with the Order of Uastari (sun). However, after a few hundred years it was infested with too many people who corrupted its cause, and for about fifty years it went on a steep spiral downwards until it finally made a small comeback and waveringly increased to where it is a known religion but not extremely populated but people still donate and volunteer for some of its humanitarian causes. Most Uendronei nowadays are magicians struggling to keep up the art of magic in society.

Mythology & Lore

Most Uendron mythology is based on events where Naks or Uen (the Moon god) appeared to mortals or influenced mortals minds to do things. A fair amount of these stories are made up or exaggerated, but their original tellings were meant for good.

Cosmological Views

The original religion was mostly Moon-centric, but it eventually diffused into a Night-Day balance sort of thing with some other sub-gods.

Tenets of Faith

There aren't any specific rules, but the various stories the Uendronei recorded (or made up) say that the mission of the Order is to bring peace and healing to everyone, and that the reason people are evil or do wrong is because they don't have enough peace, healing, and love in their life. However, people have still been able to find a way to twist stories to say the exact opposite like "people who are evil must be eliminated so they don't corrupt the peace"

Granted Divine Powers

While no one immediately gains magic simply by joining the Order, many teachings of the Order shape minds to be compatible to Moon magic. (basically, magic in Eainor comes from a certain understanding of how things work, and it is much more psychological than most fantasy magic. I would be happy to write an article about it if someone is interested, but I don't really have the motivation right now)
