Irkalla "Hell"

Hell is filled with Fiends, Beasts, and Spirits, Abominations.
  1. Fiends are divided into two casts, the Devils, and the Demons. Demons are the common Denizens of hell living trading etc, while the Devils act as the ruling class creating laws and enforcing them.
  2. Beasts are mindless natural creatures that are native to hell Often monsters out of myths and legends these beasts call Irkalla home.
  3. Abominations are things that do not fit into the above categories, like living plants, mutated souls, and other tortured nightmares manifested within Irkalla.
  4. Spirits are shades of living folk, Often they are dangerous and hunted by the Fiends, however very rarely a powerful mortal spirit will maintain its own will, these spirits are called Mainyu and are granted positions of power within Irkallan Devils

Irkalla

Irkalla is often divided into multiple layers depending on what religion you talk to, however those that have actually traveled to the “Hells” and back will tell you that it is more nuanced than that, There is divided locations that are often considered Layers of sorts, as well as the City is set upon smaller and smaller latticed plateaus. however the Districts of Irkalla are rulled over by a single Devil one of the Council Lords of Irkalla, these Devils are the Highest, oldest, and most prominent figures within Irkalla's Meritocracy

Abyss

The Abyss is a Vast emptiness that fills the space between objects in Irkalla, Unlike the Expanse in Eaden it is not filled with Air, only a small portion of air stays around any Landmass that has been claimed by a Devil or other powerful Entity.

The Soul Market (Wazir, Mainyu)

The Soul Market is not attached to any Part of Irkalla and is loosely considered a Part of Irkalla as a whole, however it is not Ruled by Devils. The Soul Market is a Place considered Lawless by most of Irkalla proper, however the Soul market just doesnt have the same Laws governing it as Irkalla. The Soul market is the Largest floating Island that Oribits arround Irkalla close enough for travel through the abyss. This Island has been named the Soul market for the origional Black market that started the nasty legends of Demons and devils dealing in mortal souls. Irkallan law prevents the ownership of soul's and considereds this a grevious misuse of power. However the Soul market has long gotten away with such dealings being positioned just outside the reach of the Council Lords and their armies.   Efectively owning the skies of Irkalla the Mainyu Wazir, Has established a sort of indipendant society within Irkalla accepting all walks of Irkallan life and providing opprotunity's to thoes who have failed within the Irkallan system. Wazir and the Soul market has become the usual stop for most interdimentional travel to and from "hell" making it a very prosperous location for mortal dealings. The Yanma agency offers legitimate passports and documentation to enter Irkalla allowing for mortal visitors to the realm of Devils and Demons.

Chaos Sea (Tiamat, Female Dragon)

It is said that Tiamat's domain exists someplace within the Abyss between Heaven and Hell, Reports of travelers have sighted a huge dragon patrolling around Irkalla, although this has never bees confirmed and is often treated as conspiracy theory.   Within Irkalla the Skies are deadly, travel by flight is actually rather difficult because of the thin layer of breathable air that acts as a film surrounding the land masses of Irkalla. Making any creature be it beast or abomination that is able to fly naturally and survive in these harsh environments extremely dangerous. The legends of Tiamat are often revered in a sort of mother of all monsters kind of light painting her as a bestial dragon behemoth that owns all rights the the domains of the abyss, making all the flying beasts her children, and thus regarded with care. The legends say that tiamat can grant the ability to breath within her realm if she chose, and as such can take it away just as easily. Irkalla doesn't believe in divinity but the legends of Timat closely border on the realm of religious fenatasisum although from a more fear prone side than a reverent or pious side. Tiamat's realm has never been documented within any Irkallan records, however it is believed to exist someplace between Irkalla and Elisum somewhere within the vast Abyss.

Thaqit (Nedu, Male Lord of Defiance)

Thaqit is often called the first layer or the outer most Bastion of Irkalla. From here you can see a distant star across the dark abyss, according to locals that Star is the Divine Realm, or “Heaven”. Contrary to beliefs throughout Eaden Thaqit is not a battle scarred wasteland, however it is mostly unexplored and wild. Thaqit is ruled over by Nedu in name only, Divided into thirds by the Serated Range, Wounded Spires, and Atlas's Spine. The Eastern third is known as Limbo, the Northern Desert is known as Tartarus, and the Southwestern Third is known as the Asphodel Fields.   Nedu, Is considered the ruller of these vast lands because he issues all patrols and oversees the retrieval and investigation of any disturbance within the Rivers. Effectively the general for all of Irkallan's military force, Nedu is held in high regard despite living primarily around only Demon's. Nedu is a pillar of Irkallan society without the Patrols errant souls may wonder out of the Rivers and posses or mutate the beasts of Irkalla, as well as reduce the amount of power each river produces. Additionally the patrols help provide the necessary supplies of nearly all of Irkalla. Weather it be beasts for food, or herbs for medicines, The badlands of Irkalla are the only place to effectively farm them in any notable capacity. In addition to these functions Nedu works closely with Liliarin, to maintain the bounds of the endless war and keep the scared wastes of Limbo under control and out of Irkalla proper.

Asphodel Fields

These vast Fields are lush compared to the Desert of Tartarus, or the Wastes of Limbo. The River of Lethe runs though these fields making mush of the vegitation here dificult to walk though as they slowly enervate you. The most notable locations within the fields are the Behemoth Caves, Garden of Fate, and the Cosmic ocean Tehom, Additionally you can acess the River styx and the Charon Valley by walking arround to the back side of the Atlas spines mountains.   The Behemoth Caves, These Caves are mostly known for the herding migration of the Behmoth beasts that use them for quick transport from the Deserts of Tartaus to the Lush fields of Asphodel and back again on a yearly migration pattern. However they are also well known for their mines and other mystical properties. said to be the location of the Smugglers Run tunnels and many notorious outlaw factions these caves are often patrolled by Irkallan sodiers although an incredably dangerous job as the beasts and omnsters that call these caves home are not to be trifled with.   The Garden of Fate, This impossible forest is surrounded by a mysterious fog that prevents entry from almost eery angle except one. the Gateway Arches. Thoes who enter this forest dont return and the few that have are mad beyond saving even though magical meens. The legends surrounding this garden are just as madening and un verrified that they can all be true. Ranging from claims that any wish will be granted to it being a simple forest path leading to the seald lands instead of traveling either though the behemoth caves or Tartarus to reach them.   The Cosmic Ocean Tehom, Tehom is an interesting location within the Fields, one of the three sacred cosmic oceans of Irkalla, Tehom is believed to be the source of all creation. One of the tamer locations within the fields this is the location of most of the farmland for Irkalla. although this farm doesn't harvest any Food. The Fields surrounding this Cosmic Ocean are only able to Grow a special Spiritual Flower that is able to help in the subjugation of Spiritual beasts. These flower Farms are so valuable to Irkalla that they are guarded by a sanding force of Irkallan soldiers complete with high ranking Devils. Additionally This Cosmic ocean is the most Temprate and therefore a common vacation spot for low rank Demons and even some lower Devils. There is a few mysterious legends about a creature living within the Ocean itself but honestly there is more evidence supporting the existence of Tiamat than the supposed Leviathan.   The Charon Valley. This Valley is nicknamed the valley of Death and is a hated patrol for most of Irkallan Soldiers, The high mountains of the Atlas' spine are home to numerous flying beasts including the horrid Abyss Watchers, that coupled with the waters of the River Styx spelling instant death for any who merely touch it, this valley has a reputation well earned. Nothing of Note has ever been recorded out in the depths of the Valley but i imagine the Orgion wellspring of the River Styx would be a noteworthy enough finding if it were to be exposed.

Tartarus

The Cosmic Ocean Hubur; One of three Cosmic Oceans these sacred oceans are reveres locations within Irkallan society, the Hubur is believed to be one of the many locations connecting directly to the well of Souls, the hubur itself is believed to grant fertility to the living. The Cosmic oceans apparently get their name from ancient times and the fact that they are impossibly large. It is said that someone who attempts to sail across a cosmic ocean will find themselves lost among ancient titans and waves of turbulent waters. It is my personal belief that these locations are actually connected to the theoretical elemental plane of water and that is why they appear to be endless and fathomless.   Sealed Lands; An interesting location the Sealed lands have been given their name because of the lost iconography that can be found throughout its dusty Savannah Large unknown Idols carved of metals and stone litter the horizon as far as the eye can see. Those who travel here report that a heavy magical presence can be felt from each and every relic, however nothing has every been found regarding them or their potential uses. Scholars within the Scholomance have theorized that this may have been another location of a great battle that predates even the oldest Irkallan texts. or perhaps this is the fabled graveyard of fallen gods. whatever this place's true history it is undeniably a place to be feared. The magical presence here is said to suppress the magical ability of any who attempt to cast magic, as well as render most common magical items innert sapping their energy's rapidly. That couples with the sightings of numerous Deathwalkers flying overhead, only the truly brave or stupid attempt to travel deep within the Sealed lands.

Limbo (Lilarin, Unisex Prince of Battle)

A large portion of Thaqit is a Vast empty field that spans far beyond the horizon, The Fields of Limbo are often considered their own Layer of Irkalla in Religions across Eaden. however the truth is fare darker than that. Limbo is the battle scarred wastes of an ancient but deadly war, The specific war seems to be debated, but the most logical would be the Bloody Call. the War against the Lugal himself and his subsequent defeat. The scares of this ancient war can been seen in the desolate wasted fields of Limbo. Lilarin has been stationed here to guard Irkalla from any future invasions as well as halt the tide of abominations that continue to acost this part of irkalla. Lilarin is a well decorated Wartime General with numerous battles under their belt, a symbol of victory only second to Pazuzu the Prince of War himself. Liliarin is not considered one of the Council from their own admonition of the process, instead wishing to serve Irkalla as a front line general.   Lilarin has been deployed multiple times throughout recent history although they have all been in response to beast waves that would have threatened Agartha itself.   The Only Notable landmark within Limbo is the Cosmic ocean Abzu. The Last of the Three Sacred Oceans, Abzu however is believed to be the end of all things, and the source of all monsters. Along with the only vegitation that grows here the Scarlet Blood Vine, A sentient plant that controls the bodies of dead beasts and abominations alike.

Agartha (Pazuzu, Prince of War)

A massive Wall encompassing Irkalla Proper. This wall is a Bastion of Irkallan pride. Constructed long ago during a war that predated the bloody call. It is said to have been constructed by Ereskigal herself, Pazuzu has long held the position of General and Commander of Agartha. It is rumored that hidden within the walls known only to thoes in Pazuzu's personal guard are ancient infernal war machines ready to be activated should Irkalla ever be under threat that would need such mesures. Agartha is over a mile thick and a little over 700 ft tall at its shortest point. An impregnable fortress of Black Iron and adamant the wall has never been breached according to history. Within the Sturdy walls lies a militaristic city housing nearly all of the Irkallan military forces and there families.

Dakus (Angra, Mainyu)

Is the second layer of Irkalla, unlike Thaqit it is a thriving Swampland and Forest, However these features are hard to see in modern Irkalla, Often considered to be just Irkalla now Dakus is the actual place where the imfamous City of Irkalla proper is found. Dakus has largely been moved to refrence the Plateau next to the center Spire. Most notable locations within Dakus are the Hanging gardens, and the city of Irkalla itself.

Irkalla,

An impressive feat of every kind of engineering it is the largest known city in all of existence. spanning a larger area than most Land clusters in Eaden it is a feat that must be seen to be belived. Irkalla is divided into mutiple county's and districts, much like a king would divide his lands among the nobility, however in Irkalla's case this division is merely to help travelers denote where they are, without witch many would find themselves lost in no time. Every road and block is equal in length, every building is equal in height and a near exact copy to its neighbor in every way. this can be very disorientating and maze like for most Eaden natives. Every city block however contains almost everything a mortal would need to live and survive within Irkalla, Food, lodging, entertainment, and even shopping. The different county's and districts are not named they are numbered and cataloged the Alphabetical letter assigned to a county, and number assigned to the district. Teleportation stations are set up at every District hub to facilitate quick and easy transportation between various locations within Irkalla, Yet another technological feat of magical engineering that boggles the minds of Eaden mages.

Purgatory (Orix, Princess of Judgement)

A Massive Jail that serves as the City hub of sorts for Irkalla, Purgatory's exact location and entrance is a secret known only to thoes who need to know, It is most commonly entered though the teleportation gate in the central plaza of Irkalla just outside of the Courthouse and elevated Plateau steps. Purgatory is goverend and operated by Orix, who servves as warden and presiding Judge over any future appeals or sentencing should ther be suficient reason to do so. Orix is an ancient Devil who has served Irkalla almost as long as Pazuzu and is often atributed to just and fair sentencing and punishment within Purgatory itself.

Morpelus (Beelzebub, Lord of Flies)

The name of the Swampland that comprises most of Beelzebub's lands. This land is often used to produce numerous foodstuffs for the citisens of irkalla and many other potent reagents and alchemical goods. Beelzebub governs and owns most of the land here.

Kitzeth (Narin, Unisex Princess of Obligation)

This is a special location within Morpelus given to Narin for their loyal and faithful service even after beelzebub was transformed into his cursed Sluglord form. Much like its master Kirzeth seems fluid in its function and form. changing from forest, to valcanic wastes on a whim. The chaotic aspect of this place is in stark contrast to most of Irkalla especially from within the city walls.

Hanging Gardens (Lilith, Ministerin of Desire)

The Pleasure District of Irkallan Devils, The Gardens are known even throughout Eaden for the beautiful and aluring fiends that work here. Often called Succubi even if they are not truly the creatures of legend. it is true that the Lustful temptations of the Gardens is nearly impossible for any mortal to resist.

Annwn (Azgywr, Lord of Riches)

A lavish paradise where the Devils of Irkalla live, A City Within a City Annwn is the third level of Irkalla Containing the Rich estates of the Council Lords and other Prestigious Devil families Annwn encompasses everything within the Central Spire of Irkalla, including the Scholomance.

Scholomance (Danjel, Minister of Darkness)

A fiendish school for black magic located in the City of Annwn. This school is not to be underestimated, as with nearly everything within Irkalla it is massive. The Scholomance is often believed to be a great afterlife for all mages. A place of infinite study and knowledge. The Scholomance is in fact real. However, it doesn't contain all the knowledge of the universe, it does contain catalogs and catalogs of forbidden magical theory, untested rituals, and other juicy bits of knowledge and history.

Naraka (Mamitu, Lady of Fates)

Very little is known about Naraka other than it is a massive frozen lake. Mamitu along with Ereshkigal and Nirgal, have not been seen in thousands of years and are presumed dead. Mamitu's last surviving heir was Eretsu the Prince of fate. whom unfortunately met his end almost 30 years ago now. It is said that the Fate house estate held the key to the mythological 4th layer of Irkalla but the only recods that have been found indicate that it is a desolate wasteland destoyed during the Bloody call, when the Lugal killed our lady of the night and was banished by Ereshkigal.

Nexus

The Nexus is the final Layer of Irkalla and very little is known about it other than it being the home to the Palace of Ganzir where The Queen of the Night Ereshkigal and her Consort Nirgal reside. Weather the Nexus truly exists or if it was destroyed during the call is a complete mystery, however most Irkallan citizens believe in its existence more so than Tiamat, and some of the oldest devils get rather suspicious when confronted about the subject at all.
