Dystopian Earth

My story is set in a dystopian city with a time period not long from now. A large coronal mass ejection hit earth and wiped out all electrical grids and transformers. The world was set into chaos without knowledge of what happened. Soon word got around about what happened, months later the government had repaired enough damage so that they could give details and instructions how to carry on with life until they had a permanent fix but it was to late. People had starved and did things they never thought they could. With such a downfall in society and people who had lost hope in the government, the world was changed forever. New government officials appointed themselves with money. The world was now run by the rich who started a new way of living.   The only way to describe the new government is damage control that didnt care to much about damage. They gave the citizens just enough to live for where huge rebellions wouldnt arise. but there was small ones.
