Panagrax (Pan-uh-grass)

The Panagrax tribes are a hearty mountain people who lived in Dyrburg long before the Blue Rock Sovereignty. They were mostly untouched by the kingdoms conquering of the lower lands, safe among the howling peaks of upper most mountains. However as adventurers began to raid the hills and mountains to claim the wealth of giants and long lost citadels they brought with them hunters and merchants who killed and skinned the wildlife that the Panagrax people had survived off for centuries. As food became scarce the Panagrax tribe turned to banditry, and Cecile retaliated with overwhelming force.   Legions of Cecile's troops scoured the mountains and hills, putting every tribesperson to the blade or to the gallows. As the Panagrax people were forced further and further in, they were forced to accept the inevitability of their deaths, either at the hands of Cecile's troops or at the hands of starvation. A delegation was sent out to try and parlay with Cecile's forests but there was no mercy to be found, Cecile found the way of their life barbaric and wanted to send a message to her foes and rivals so the delegation was slaughtered and sent back with the sole surviving member. The clan was devastated beyond consolation and as they retreated further and further up the mountain they called out to the spirits of the mountain for some aid. The evil entity that Cecile had slain, (manifested as a Djinni/Dao/Efreeti) heard their cry and granted them a twisted but powerful wish.    Humanoid figures are summoned from the mists periodically, and the Panagrax people must resort to cannibalism in order to continue surviving. It is still secretive, but everyone in the tribe knows what they are surviving on. Any dissent is cut down or tortured out by the elders.
