The Gods of Dynasia

An Overview of the Gods & The Creation Story of Dynasia

Created by Lewis Clarke
Before the Material Plane came into being, there were five celestial beings - Hohengar, Zerakses, Violises, Madagar, and Dynasia. They existed in harmony in limbo together, under the rule of the mightiest of there number - Dynasia. This continued for a timeless era, until the other beings grew tired of Dynasia's unelected rule and realised that together they could destroy her.   So, as she lay resting, the beings gathered about her and took up a limb each of her beautiful form - and pulled with all of their might. Dynasia awoke with a start and screamed in agony - cursing the others that they would be bound to her for all eternity. Dynasia's body split into many pieces: her torso cracked and hardened, becoming like earth and forming the world; her hands flung forth the sun, moon, and stars as they snapped out of her wrists; her tears flooded out, forming the Firstwater and the seas; and finally her last breath brought the sky and the four winds. With this her head vanished, never to be seen by the other beings again. The rest of her body was cast forth into the void and formed various landmasses and caused life to spring up in all corners of the universe.   The other beings, content that they had destroyed her, now found that they could not move as freely as they once had. They were, in fact, bound to the planes created by their former ruler, and that the endless Limbo they once inhabited was filled with life. Limbo had become a dangerous and busy place, so the primordials made themselves a new home; the Celestial Planes - where they intended to rule this strange new universe from.   Zerakses took lordship over time and the arcane forces which Dynasia had left behind, quickly learning he could manipulate this power to his will. All magic was, and is, drawn from the Firstwater, and this is where he often wanders when upon the material plane. He became very wise and knowledgable on a great many thing and is seen as a teacher by many followers. His domains are: Arcana, Death, Knowledge, Life   Violises quickly became the master of mortal nature and their wicked minds. She found a talent for finding their weaknesses and their strengths and grew fond of tests of their will to reward them. She took lordship over fortune and misfortune, and also over love and envy. Her domains are: Grave, Knowledge, Nature, Trickery   Hohengar was at first fearful of this new land but quickly travelled as far and as wide within it as he could, making sure that Dynasia truly had been destroyed. When he was sure of this he threw a marvellous celebration, and became a master of merriment and developed a deep passion for stories and was amazed at the emotions of mortals. His domains are: Forge, Life, Light, Trickery   Madagar grew distant from many of the mortal races, however took comfort in the many beasts and birds. She became ruler over the hunt, over a mortal's primal instincts, fighting, war, and also something of a guardian for the creatures. Her domains are: Light, Nature, Tempest, War   Each of the Gods accumulated many worshippers all across the planes, and appear in many forms. Over the eras past the Gods have grown indifferent to each other - none of them possessing any particular like or dislike for the others and they all exist independantly of each other as much as possible. This is why many areas are naive to the existence of the other members of the pantheon - each of the Gods like to believe they are an independant ruler.   All of the Gods rarely interact with the mortals directly and send messages through their powerful servants; their angels.   On top of this, although the Gods are not strictly good in nature, there exist elements of evil within the world, taking the form of Demons, Devils, and other abominations. It is said that when Dynasia was dismembered, all of her anguish was poured into the darker planes - which elude the Gods to this day - which spawn this evil. These planes are ruled by three overlords.   Nematu, The Demon Lord, rules over The Abyss - a chaotic and evil kingdom where all demonic souls are enslaved to.   Efana, The Devil Queen, is ruler in The Nine Hells. A plane of strict law and evil, where all devil's souls are bound to.   Ustifen is the third manifestation of Dynasia's wrath. He is neither devil nor demon and walks the planes recording all sin and making sure that sinners crimes are paid for. He is not so much evil as a surveyer of justice.   It is also said that Dynasia's body gave life to many more lesser spirits which inhabit the material plane and beyond. Their power is less than that of the original divine beings and the evil deities, however they are still powerful beyond the imagination of mortals and possess realms and domains of their own. These deities mostly exist within the essence of Dynasia and constructs of nature such as the seas, the mountains, the forests, and rivers. In lands where the presence of The Four is strong they hide, but further out within the lands unclaimed by society, they run wild and free. They are too countless to be named, and so varied in power that it is difficult to classify.   No one truly knows the extent of Dynasia's influence on the world and her true power can only be guessed at, as discoveries of new life and new magic is made all the time. Her head eludes The Four still, and deep within their immortal and all-knowing minds, they fear her wrath.
