The Alshari

Alshari Overview

The Alshari people trace their lineage and history back to some of the first Skol af Dreka scholars who left the Cradle to explore as asked and to catalogue everything they discovered in the world beyond. Accompanied by a small contingent of drekka scholars, the Alshari people had some of the closest connections to the Skol af Dreka and the Drekkan religion originally. Upon finding the floating mountain nexus that would later become Himinsor, the Proto-Alshari decided to found a new school/society of learning.   As the years passed the nexus transformed the Alshari into taller more angular faced people adept at living in higher altitudes. Additionally, from their continued exposure to draconic and nexus magick, the Alshari also grew long, ram-like horns from their forehead which can be used to estimate a Alsharan’s age. They are the longest-lived of the other races, some living over 400 years. This is believed to be a combination of their strict diet and high levels of exposure to a mix of draconic and nexus magicks. The Alshari dedicate themselves almost completely to their field of study, many lacking social graces due to this fact.

Highborne

Ability Score Increase: +1 Int +1 Con   Highborne's Resilience: All Highborne children of Himinsor are prepared at a young age to serve and defend Himinsor, and have had access to a wealth of knowledge on magick and all the applications of it. Because of this, you have the following benefits:
  • You have advantage on Constitution saving throws that you make to maintain your concentration on a spell when you take damage.
  • When a hostile creature's movement provokes an opportunity attack from you, you can use your reaction to cast a spell at the creature, rather than making an opportunity attack. The spell must have a casting time of 1 action and must target only that creature.

Lowborne

Ability Score Increase: +2 Dex   Skill Proficiency: You gain proficiency in Stealth.   The Life of the Lowborne: Those living in the shadows of Himinsor don't have the same benefits afforded to them as the Highborne above. Raised to serve the Highborne, and lacking the same schooling and resources as them, the Lowborne have learned the harsh lessons of life and know how to apply them. Because of this, you have the following benefits:
  • When a creature within 5 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature.
  • When you damage a creature that is concentrating on a spell, they have disadvantage on the saving throw it makes to maintain concentration.
  • When a spellcaster you can see attacks you with a damaging spell, you can use your reaction to halve the attack’s damage against you.
A Highborne Alshari Man.
