Dwarfen Caves

This world was born of a question I asked myself: How do dwarfs, who live underground, survive? How do they see? Torches and candles are impractical, as they use oxygen. And since they evolved underground in a world of near complete darkness, how do they see the world on the surface? Right now (2020) I'm trying to create a race, that lives underground, and I don't have much on the social structure (other than some vague ideas)   Info @DMs interested in setting a campaign in this world: Go ahead, it would be interesting to see, how some "outsiders" see a world thats so different from the one we are from. If something is missing that you need for your campaign, make it up. (I may not consider it canon, but I may take inspiration from it, if you send me some ideas)
