The Cradle
The land that once protected and nourished both Gnome and Dragonborn alike is now a house of horrors. After the The Night of the Dead this area has been filled with undead gnomes. The Volognomes blame The Myth of the Eeirɨ for this all.
Geography
Out in the deadlands approximately about a third the way between Lockgear and The Reach. There is a small grouping of 5 peaks with a network of caves and tunnels underneath. This network below is what is affectionately the cradle.
Ecosystem
In these caverns, you can find a variety of freshwater springs and pools. Near these, there are a plethora of kinds of Fungi. Some of these are edible and others can be used for other purposes. You can also find various species of rodents and lizards.
Localized Phenomena
A purple-hued fog now envelops the area. It never seems to leave the base of the peaks or the caverns below. The fog appeared in the area a few years after The Night of the Dead. This fog does not appear to be toxic in any way but does reduce visibility to about thirty feet.
History
This set of caverns is significant to two of the most prolific races on the planet. Before the time of the The Cataclysm, these are the same location that the Dragons laid a majority of their eggs. Then as the Cataclysm hit the land here and the magma began to rise from the land surrounding them, the surviving gnomes of the region found these same caverns and took refuge for many millennia. It was towards the end of this time when Bawippar the Historian discovered the newly hatched species of Dragonborn. During these last centuries, the gnomes taught and protected the fledgling species. When they emerged to the surface they went to the west to seek their fortunes, the Dragonborn went to the east.
