Caraofite

Caraofite is the colloquial name given to people who hold the highest military achievement - the Medal of Caraof. It is named in the honour of the famous battle that took place at this fort and is awarded to people who have proven over and over again a supreme tactical genious above what is deemed to be possible. It is given to people whoa re able to outsmart their opponents be it an army, a dangerous group of organised criminals, a magical incident or a natural disaster. There were two occassions in history of the main island where this medal was given to a civilian - on both occassion those people were able to prevent massive loses of human lives thanks to their intellect, quick thinking and strategical skills. Both of those individuals were given the opportunity to get a free military training in their chosen profession for free and both of them accepted. The majority of holders have been generals (sixty three), majors (twenty eight) and captains (fifteen). To not promote a person to at least a rank of a captain for their deeds is considered to be an insult. Many common soldiers therefore dream of proving themselves by some great extraordinary deed to gain a quick career advancement and prestige and it has become a running joke in the base training camps.
The real Caraofites get immense respect everywhere they go and you can usually clearly tell by their demeanor and way of speaking why they are able to hold such a respectable title. They also get invited to a lot of high society events although most of them rarely accept. Unless it's part of their future moves. Some of them go into politics in their later life up until the point they are so old and sick they are not able to perform any of their duties.
Caraofite are considered to be not only the most capable officers but also the most honorable citizens. To this date there has not been a single one that would have their title revoked due to some sort of a scandal.
