Way of the Wrench
There hasn’t been a moment that you haven’t known how to use a torque wrench, haven’t loved the roar of an engine or the screech of the gears as you burn down the ebony road. The fact is that to live in the world you gotta have gasoline-powered thunder under the hood, and a stable and dependable frame, engine, transmission, and tires. Some of the best in the world can even handle themselves in a fight, as tough as they are, but the reality is a short life alone isn’t worth a spit. So you hop up some wheels, hunt yourself down a gunner worth his ammunition, and maybe take on a scrounge and splicer to keep you in parts and electronics. Dink around for a while, get to know the Dealers and the Scholars and find out where the big scores really are. Then pile the lot of them into the mobile fortresses you built, and between you, get back the kind of life that the system stole from you, maybe even end up with one of those really sweet sixteen-cylinders you’ve dreamed of. You deserve it, don’t you?

– a combination between a road racer and master mechanic, Coursers are individuals tasked with transporting goods, people, and information across the byways, wilderness, and ruins in a constant race against time. Coursers are beyond the usual Wrenches, as they are sponsored and supplied by the Administrators of Arcologies or hired by heads of Trade Posts or even Homeguards of a particular Skirts or Burbs community. (Wrenches can move toward the Courser role if they have a penchant for fast-pace missions and a proclivity for surviving dangerous runs.)
