Nackadong

Overview

Nackadongo are the fastest fliers of all Gendirlo. They are long, lean reptiles nearly as large as a Kundeg.

Characteristics

Nackadongo live in the central mountains of settled Dosjorya, similar in areas to the Coloktialo. Despite their speed, they do not tend to fly vast distances unless they wish to bond to a human or desire an adventure. Typically if they do stray far from theur clans, Nackadongo stay within the mountains.
A Nackadong is dwarfed by few Gendirlo, though for their size and muscular appearing body they are particularly weak. Their scales are red and brown and slick. Unlike any other aerial Gendirl, Nackadongo have two sets of wings, a larger front pair for maintaining or adjusting altitude and a smaller back pair for pushing them forward in the air, or for making very precise maneuvers. They have decent stamina for flying so long as they take a slow pace. Most Nackadongo cannot maintain their fastest flights for more than a few minutes.
Because of the demands of having two sets of wings, Nackadongo are not picky eaters, eating everything that resembles food. They are accomplished hunters but are just as likely to eat every bit of vegetation around them. Over thousands of years, they have adapted their plant eating habits to aid in the renewal of the sparse mountainous forests, reducing the choking underbrush that can prevent new trees from growing. When Nackadongo hunt, they tend to look for large prey, though will catch anything, even if it is a small insect.
Nackadongo take great care to raise their young, ensuring that they reach adulthood with a full understanding of how best to survive and thrive. Outside of parenthood, Nackadongo rarely associate with others of their species, though they are friendly to one another. Clans are normally disorganized clusters of Nackadongo who each claim a portion of the land for themselves but rarely need to defend it.

History

When the Hahklemems rose up, the Coloktialo called on the Nackadongo to fight them, for they were the only Gendirl species capable of matching a Hahklemem in a fight. However, though victorious, the Nackadongo suffered a drastic population drop and for a few centuries it was unknown if they would escape extinction. Even to this day, their numbers have never fully recovered, though they are safe from completely dying out.
