Hahklemem

Overview

Hahklemems are the only known Gendirl species to have gone extinct. They are winged quadruped avians that, when they lived, were the largest of all Gendirl species.
Characteristics
Historically Hahklemems occupied vast swaths of the mountains, but roamed wherever they pleased. Ancient Hahklemem clans congregated near the Great Achton River  valley.    Hahklemems have four somewhat short legs and very large wings. Their bodies are streamlined, allowing them to fly quite fast with a decent amount of agility. Bird and lizard like, they bore scales on their limbs and crests and feathers on their bodies. Hahklemems had large yellow beaks that had enough strength to rip apart flesh and crush bones. All of their scales were brown and their feathers were a mix of brown and tan.   Hahklemems were carnivorous, but it is unknown what their preferred prey was or if they could ingest plant matter. Some Coloktial historians believe the Hahklemems were actually omnivores, but chose to eat meat solely to demonstrate their power and superiority to other species.   Clan and social structures of the Hahklemems have been lost to time. It is known that they were among the smartest of the Gendirlo but no one knows how this may have affected how they interacted with each other.
History
Soon after the Gendirl Sacred Pact  was agreed to, the Hahklemems rose up in an attempt to rule over the other Gendirlo. They left those who submitted alone but killed any who resisted. However, they were defeated by the might of the other Gendirlo, and executed as an entire species to prevent further bloodshed. The bones of those killed at the execution site lie buried in Bone Hill .
