Coloktial

Overview

Moderate sized mammalian Gendirlo similar in shape to humans. Mountain dwellers and the last species to evolve, though they quickly rose to prominence and are considered the leaders of all Gendirlo

Characteristics

Coloktialo, not having a very large population, are only found in a small region in the central mountains of settled Dosjorya. Most of their minor clans sit on the banks of the lower Daycen River and the lower Habinin River, though their main clan sits near the isolated Legend Lake. Their original primary clan sat near what is now called Old Legend Lake, but was buried under ash from an eruption from nearly Sorrow Mountain. It is rare for anyone to find a Coloktial very far from their clans.
Standing upright, a Coloktial stands a foot taller than the average human, and has a very similar stance. Like humans, Coloktialo have thumbs that allow them to do many things. They have short fur that is light grey on their front, dark blue on their back, with black markings along their sides. Each Coloktial has two curving black horns on their head, with males having larger, straighter horns than females. Their snouts and tails are short relative to the size of their bodies.
Omnivorous, a Coloktial can eat anything, but they prefer plant matter if they have a choice. Though their physiology allows them to be good persistence hunters and their thumbs allow for the use of weapons, Coloktialo rarely hunt. Most of the meat one ever eats was a part of another Gendirl's kill. Most of their food comes from careful cultivation of favored plants and gathering of wild edibles.
Coloktialo are communal in nature and highly social, but only to members of their own species. They do not favor violence, a trait that led them to develop the Gendirl Sacred Pact. Each Coloktial takes a mate for as long as they desire, for it is rare for any couple to have any young. Similar humans, when a pair does have a baby Coloktial, they stay together until the young Coloktial is able to care for itself. 
However, Coloktialo are not as receptive to outsiders, only allowing other Gendirlo to enter their clans if they give offerings of food or wish to study from their library and scholars. No humans are allowed in their clans, no matter how much of an ally to the Gendirlo that human is. This distrust of outsiders has caused the Coloktialo on occasion to ignore their hate for bloodshed and call for violence or executions, including the extinction of the Hahklemems.
